About the adventure

Ah yes, the excitement of proving long-held theories wrong and etching your name into the annals of paleontological legend. What a time to be alive! Pursuing myths recorded in ancient manuscripts and occasionally risking your life in the process. This particular campaign follows an association of explorers and the lengths they're willing to go, driven by the promise of academic recognition and a hefty paycheck at the end of an expedition. • Searching for a lost city in the heart of a primordial jungle teeming with man-eating plants? Aye. • Excavating an ancient temple buried beneath the desert, where camel-sized scorpions make their burrows? Aye aye. • Recovering the lost manuscript of a legendary demigod said to have mastered Time magic - and with it, the power to shatter reality as we know it? AYEAYEAYE The League of Daring Explorers is much more than a band of treasure hunters. Its members are scholars, adventurers, cartographers, archaeologists, monster experts, and diplomats who venture into the unknown to recover knowledge before it is lost. Now then, let's delay your tale no longer!

About me

Well met! I’ve been GM-ing since 2019, my storytelling style tends to be gritty, character-driven fantasy with enough humor to bring out the occasional laugh. I draw inspiration from writers like Joe Abercrombie, George R. R. Martin, and Tolkien. I’m also influenced by video games such as The Witcher, Shadow of the Colossus, and Heroes of Might & Magic. At my table, player freedom is at the core of the experience. I enjoy it when players test the limits of my imagination and push the story in unforeseen directions. I tend to return the favor by placing players in situations where they have to improvise on the fly, which can be both challenging and rewarding. If you enjoy that type of challenge, you’ll likely have a good time at my table. My goal is always to create a vivid theater-of-the-mind experience where players can unleash their creativity and leave with unforgettable stories. I favor theater-of-the-mind GM-ing because I want to mimic the feeling of a real-life table as closely as possible.

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0, we’ll go through character creation step by step and discuss how each character fits into the world. Have an idea of your character ready.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Theater of the Mind experience! We'll be using Discord, the only app you'll need. Our goal is to recreate the feel of a real-life tabletop game as closely as possible, focusing on imagination, roleplay, and collaborative storytelling. Come to Session 0 with a character concept in mind, or create your character from scratch and present the complete package during the session!

What IvanGMT brings to the table

I've run games for approximately 200 players over the years (a lot of these offline). In-character banter, creative role-play, and energetic storytelling are encouraged and rewarded. The more you engage with the world and your fellow players, the more you'll get out of the experience. Combat occurs as often as the group chooses, or as often as trouble finds them. We might go several sessions without a fight, or find ourselves in danger every session. The story and your decisions will determine the pace. Expect occasional ambient and action music to help set the mood, and remember: the Rule of Cool absolutely applies.

Homebrew rules

We'll talk about it on session 0, no big changes to how the game is originally presented.
