About the adventure

If you're a new or intermediate player who wants to jump right into a game, and immediately find yourself in a tense stan-off, you come to the right place! This is an epic fantasy one-shot, that has players become the heroes that are going to do what no-else can - reclaim Fort Umbra from the Yuan-ti reptiles of the jungle. Throughout the game, there's a timer that has players trying to figure out the true purpose of Fort Umbra's capture and how they can stop trials that are underfoot. You can choose to fight your way through Fort Umbra's impenetrable walls, or sneak on through and lower the drawbridge to let the soldiers through and start a skirmish to be king of the hill.

About me

A New-York based storyteller and narrative designer, my game writing skills hone in on environmental storytelling, lore, and worldbuilding. My love for D&D and mythology has led me to creating immersive and fleshed out worlds with stories waiting to be told. After receiving my bachelor of the arts, focus on narrative design, my efforts have gone towards working on games with colleagues, as well as contracts with indie devs who want to create an in-depth world for their game. In 2017, a friend of mines brought her 5th edition player's manual to guide my process into making my first character. I ended up with a Tiefling Warlock named Thüg (pronounced th-oo-g) who made a pact with an infernal devil in order to save the souls of his friends. 6 souls flew in Thüg's body, and would switch to one of their personalities whenever he loses consciousness. His goal was to find a way to create new bodies for his friends, and to transfer their souls out of his body. Long story short, I had a chaotic mess of a time playing this guy and his 6 other personalities. And even though I didn't get to finish his story, I would later go on to create a world that made sense for him. That experience made me realize that I like having multiple plates spinning at the same time. I wasn't satisfied with just controlling one PC, when I could be a slew of NPCs, monsters, and even the background music that plays while PCs are talking in a tavern. As a GM, I'm Thüg and his 7 personalities.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-made character sheets PDFs will be provided. Optionally, players can create their own characters. Characters should be: - Set to level 5 - Using the point-buy system - Sub-classes from Standard D&D 2024 books (PHB, Ravenloft, Faerun, etc.) - Most species are fine, following backward capability with 2014 races.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I run my games through Discord, to get into voice chat with the players, as well as using a music bot. I will provide a link to the server before the game begins. Combat encounters and the map are put on D&D beyond, where I will provide a link as well when combat begins.

What Anthony brings to the table

I'm big on descriptive dm'ing, where the players actions have weight and narrative significance. When you're in combat and you used a longsword to pierce the foe, that wound is gonna stay on them till they are dead. Rule of cool is the motto in which I follow. As long as you can give me a conceivable way that that would work! Awarding players for their creative, I try my best "Yes and" to work with the ideas that players offer. When it comes to atmosphere, I have playlists of music to fit the different situations that may arise. I started Dm'ing online first, and I knew that I needed to immerse players in ways that only online can. Playlists and online interactive maps were the answers I found for this experience.
