About the adventure

The crack of thunder. Wild, churning waves. Falling overboard. Landing in the cold, stormy sea. Drifting further down into the depths. These are the last things you remember before awaking to the sound of softly breaking waves and the calls of coastal birds. Your eyes open, and a clear, sunny sky greets you. Not only have you survived, but you've awakened upon a pristine beach next to a lush jungle. A young woman with pure white hair rushes to your aid, but you've never been better; you've found yourself washed ashore on the tropical paradise of Manaki. Campaign Summary: After washing up on the shores of Manaki, you find yourself thrust into the machinations of ancient evils. Threats to the island reemerge, and heroes are needed to save the islands, their people, and perhaps even reality itself from annihilation! Thankfully, magic courses through you. The very fabric of the isles brings power to your body, and you steadily feel yourself growing stronger. This campaign takes place over the course of 20 weeks, with characters gaining a level every 14 days. You will get to use all the powers that your class has to offer by the time you either save, or condemn the isles.

About me

Hello, one and all! My name is Connor, and I've been a GM since 2018, but with experience in TTRPGs going all the way back to 2007. RPGs have been a tradition in my family since the early 80s, stretching across 3 whole generations. I've picked up the torch as a third generation GM, ready to bring more than 40 years of shared experience and knowledge to the table. I'm a lover of a good mystery, and I enjoy incorporating aspects of investigative gameplay even in stories not primarily about solving a mystery. If a story makes you stop and think "now what could that possibly mean?" then there's a strong chance that I'll be all over it. If you're looking for games that will challenge your characters, while presenting twists and turns for them to work through as intriguing stories unfold due to their actions, then I'd love to run a game for you!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will use standard Daggerheart character creation, done during a free session 0 as a group to build characters and establish the party's relationship.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This game will use Roll20 for art, maps, and general VTT functions. Character sheets will be handled using Demiplane Voice chat will be done over Discord, where you will receive a link to my community server for the games that I host.

What The 3rd Gen GM brings to the table

The Daggerheart Core Rulebook will be made available in Demiplane, so you will have access to all player character options available in it. A music bot will be used in Discord for background ambience and music.

Homebrew rules

Daggerheart is a very open-ended game system, but we will generally attempt to adhere to the rules and systems described in the Core Rulebook. Campaign Mechanics: Raw Magic; events in the Isles have brought unstable and temperamental magics upon the region. As magic is used and spells are cast, there is an accumulation of magic that can erupt around spellcasters with both beneficial and detrimental effects. As time goes on, the frequency of this occurrence and the variability of the effects will grow more pronounced. A Trade Economy; The Isles of Manaki have no use or need for coins, and instead use resources and goods in a barter system. The gathering and trade of materials is a dedicated system outlined during session 0.

Safety

How The 3rd Gen GM creates a safe table

In order to ensure that we maintain a safe and respectful game space, we will be making use of X, N, & O cards during the game. These can simply be sent through the in-game chat to signal the need to stop and re-assess the scene, tread carefully, or to proceed with approval. Additionally, we will discuss game content and concerns during session 0, in order to ensure that I have a framework of what the players consider upsetting content, and can avoid or incorporate those appropriately. Lastly, as this is a very narrative-driven adventure, we will check-in for everyone's stars & wishes. This will give everyone an opportunity to express what they would like to see out of the adventure.
