About the adventure

Make allies worth fighting for, enemies you'll remember by name, and choices that can shake kingdoms. Solare is 20+ years of interconnected history, active gods, evolving NPCs, and stories shaped by decades of play. You aren't here to experience my story, you're here to leave yours behind. The campaign is set in a frontier of sorts. A hard, thinly-governed, purely human edge of Solare where nothing is handed to you. Small settlements cling to true wilderness, help is far away, and the wild presses in close. Ordinary life gives way to something stranger. Threats half-glimpsed, real survival stakes, consequences that linger. No magic shortcuts, just courage earned the hard way. Your character has real agency in Solare. There is no fixed ending, NPCs remember you, factions react, relationships evolve, and your choices reshape what comes next. Heroism is a choice: become a legend, protector, warlord, villain, or something unexpected. Expect moral complexity, where allies have flaws, enemies have reasons, and there isn't always a right answer. Relationships grow through genuine trust and conflict, while your character changes through scars, convictions, alliances, enemies, and the consequences of the life they choose. Solare is an 18+ setting. Some regions explore darker themes, war, slavery, horror, cults, corruption, moral ambiguity, while others offer hope, wonder, and heroism. Tone varies by region, but consequence is always real. The gods of Solare are active forces, not background flavor. Characters who devote themselves to a deity can earn powerful, unique divine blessings — enhanced abilities, supernatural gifts, entirely new ways to approach combat and roleplay. Faith can become a defining part of your character's journey. What Type of Player Are You? Power Gamer — Loves becoming stronger and gaining powerful abilities and equipment. Butt-Kicker — Loves exciting combat, monsters, and rolling dice. Tactician — Loves strategy, planning, resource management, and clever solutions. Specialist — Loves a particular character concept, class, race, or playstyle. Method Actor — Loves inhabiting a character and making choices based on their beliefs, flaws, relationships, and experiences. Storyteller — Loves becoming invested in characters, relationships, mysteries, conflicts, and an unfolding narrative. Casual Gamer — Primarily enjoys the social experience and having fun with the group. Solare will be best enjoyed by Method Actors and Storytellers, with plenty for Tacticians and Specialists as well, hard choices demand real strategy, and the world has room for any character concept to shine. You don't need voices or acting experience, you need a desire to become invested in your character, the other characters, and the world. This is not intended as a beer-and-pretzels campaign. Looking for players who want long-term, immersive play in a world with real history behind it.

About me

I've been playing since I was 14 and am 50 now, and love introducing players to my world of Solare. The decisions and relationships characters create in my world I use as inspiration for stories in novels I've written. Being a player is fun for me, but I've always tended to host more games and usually end up as the DM for all my friends. Since I've been building Solare for over 20 years, it has plenty of history and characters to work with and build on for players. Since recently getting back into DM'ing and 5e, I've been working to transfer all my NPC and Lore to World Anvil and constantly adding new content to immerse players into the world and create a great experience for them to enjoy! I love telling stories and writing novels based on the characters that players make in the world. I have online campaigns and table top which all influence the world of Solare and other groups. So one group may see a green dragon flying over them to attack another group in a far off city. I love creating tokens for my players and have plenty of tokens of my NPCs for players to interact with. Aside from gaming, my main profession is photography and videography. I hope to see you come for a visit and explore my world and maybe stay for awhile.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters begin at Level 3 and are created on D&D Beyond before Session 1. Ability scores are determined using the Manual/Rolled method from D&D Beyond, choosing the best result from three sets of rolls. Characters start with standard starting equipment. Additional starting magic items or equipment may be provided depending on the campaign and story. I use D&D Beyond for character sheets, initiative, and dice rolls, while Roll20 is used for maps, combat, handouts, and NPC artwork. Official Wizards of the Coast content is welcome. Homebrew options from the World of Solare may also be available with approval, including unique subclasses, spells, feats, and divine blessings found during play.

What William brings to the table

✅ A dedicated Discord community with channels for character creation, world lore, session recaps, player feedback, and between-session roleplay. ✅ D&D Beyond Master Tier with shared access to my purchased sourcebooks, making character creation simple and accessible. ✅ Roll20 Pro featuring detailed battle maps, custom tokens, handouts, dynamic lighting, ambient music, and immersive combat encounters. ✅ A living world supported by over 20 years of worldbuilding, including an extensive lore database filled with unique cultures, factions, histories, religions, and memorable NPCs. ✅ Character-driven storytelling. I enjoy working with players to weave their backstories into the campaign, creating personal story arcs that grow alongside the main adventure. ✅ Immersive roleplay. I perform unique NPC voices, descriptive narration, and cinematic storytelling while balancing roleplay, exploration, and tactical combat. ✅ Meaningful choices. Player decisions have lasting consequences, relationships evolve naturally, and your actions can shape the future of Solare. ✅ Epic encounters. Expect challenging tactical combat, memorable villains, ancient mysteries, political intrigue, and moments of genuine heroism. I believe NPCs should feel like real people—not quest givers. They'll have their own goals, relationships, personalities, and stories that continue whether the party is present or not.
