About the adventure

::: Dungeon Prospectors ::: Prospectors by way of Snake Lake are rushing to stake their claims in a vibrant, untouched dungeon above! Explore an original, hand drawn living dungeon full of fungus, shadows, giant bugs, smelly old ruins, and secret lore. Relax between climbs in little settlements and towns full of residents who live for stories of the prospectors. Spend your hard earned gold in shops featuring bespoke, browsable inventories with listed prices. Save up for that brilliant armor you spied in the window of Skellender's Pawn. Earn fortune and fame by carving a trail for others to follow, or leave no trail at all. Develop rivalries with competing prospectors as you push the frontier ever higher. Grab whatever you can carry and haul it to the nearest trader, down hidden short cuts you've uncovered along the way. Stake a claim then return with a mining crew or a handful of mushroom gardeners to work the claim on your behalf! Open a saloon on the edge of the frontier in a rival's upstart boomtown. Perhaps your party's thirst for discovery drives them ever higher, eager to find the surface and bask in the morning sun.

About me

Game mastering has become the main creative passion in my life. With 20 odd years of experience doing it, I'm looking to add another 10 or so years to my record before I run out of steam. Lately I've fallen for the game Mutants and Masterminds. I'm particularly hyped to bring it to as many players as I can. I build custom worlds and settings. I've done scifi-fantasy cross overs, cowboys and dinosaurs, modern era super heroes, high fantasy global politics, holiday specials, everyone is a dog for some reason. Suffice it to say I like variety. Game mastering to me is about having fun with real people, expressing ones creativity, and making friendships that last.

Character creation

Creating your character

We start at level 1, then we'll hit level 2 rather quickly after a few sessions. No limits on heritage and background. Only caveats on back story are that your character must want to go dungeon prospecting and they've never seen the surface before. If that last bit is to much of a stretch for your concept, "I haven't seen the surface since I was a kid" is fine too. If you're brand new to Daggerheart no worries. We'll make characters together at session zero. It's a speedy process compared to many other systems and the game rules are a real breeze to learn, easy to access online for free. If you're coming in after the game's been rolling for a few sessions, we'll work together over Discord to fit your character in nice and easy. With so many prospectors around, the party is always stumbling upon strangers in the tunnels who could use a fresh party of companions to help them reach a safe haven.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We'll use Roll20 for our VTT. Character creation in the middle of session zero. I have a small Discord server every player gets into early for in game chat and general communication, scheduling, lore drops and such. There's plenty of Daggerheart online resources we can use for digital sheets if you don't want to print some out. I'm not picky, all my sheets are JPGs mostly, so I'll be surveying the table to see what digital tools folk have used before, use the groups favorite tools. In the weeks prior to session zero we'll be in the Discord, workshopping how all the characters fit together, learn some lore, the setting, so everyone can roll confident into the adventure. There'll be plenty of ponder time while we wait for game start.

What Gamemasterdon brings to the table

This adventure is written and designed by me from the ground up. I draw the whole dungeon by hand on big sheets of cardboard, trace them with sharpies, then finish them off with some digital color. The dungeon's outlined all the way to the surface. All the creature and npc tokens are pulled from the 2-Minute Tabletop collection I picked up specific for this adventure. You can browse my folders if you wanna pick a token from there for your character, and 2-Minute Tabletop also has a character token builder to play with if you want one bespoke. If you have a particular piece of character art you want to use for your token that's fine too.

Homebrew rules

We'll play things by the book, won't have any campaign wide homebrew house rules we need to abide by. There'll likely be some homebrew sprinkled in via items and creatures, rare plants and ores you'll encounter, and we might make some up down the line. Hope and Fear is coming out soon, and when it does we'll open up our characters for re-tooling if there's any new stuff in there we want to get into.

Safety

How Gamemasterdon creates a safe table

During session zero I'll give you all my lines and veils, and you can share any of your own we should keep in mind. The list will be pinned in the group chat for future reference. During the game if things are getting to intense, call a red card and we'll stop the scene and take a breather, make some edits before we get back into the game after a tight five. Call a yellow card and we'll change the focus and wrap up the scene more casually, keep it rolling without the breather.
