About the adventure
Icewind Dale has not seen the summer for two years. The Ten Towns are struggling and need help. Out in the dark, some forces want to take advantage of this eternal winter to further their own evil plots. And there is something lurking under the ice. You and your party must solve the mystery of the endless winter and battle the horrors that wait in the dark. This campaign mixes survival, horror and mystery, and you will start by exploring the towns in this frozen land. Here you will try to survive endless cold, terrifying monsters, and the many factions trying to take control of the region. As you grow stronger, you will try your luck out on the tundra, seeking ancient, lost secrets, magical power, and possibly fighting a dragon that shouldn't exist. In the end, you must find a way to defeat the Frostmaiden herself, or let the North be lost to the eternal darkness forever.

About me
Hello, I am Ravna! I am a queer woman from Norway and I use she/her pronouns. I have played TTRPGs for over 2 years now, and I have GM'ed almost as long. I love the collaborative nature of these kinds of games, and it is important to me that everyone around the table is having fun<3 I run Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e and Vaesen, and you will always meet at least one fey creature in my campaigns. They will be both whimsical and horrible. I love to worldbuild, and think it's super fun when I get to do that together with my players. You wanna build your own hometown, go for it. Does your elf clan have a weird custom? Perfect. You think orcs should be nomads living in yurts and herding axebeaks? Amazing. Give me your ideas. I do run official campaigns in the Forgotten Realms, but if your group would want me to drop the campaign into a homebuilt setting, I am all for it. Vaesen is a newer system for me, but I like to focus on the mystery and the horror element of the vaesen. As a Norwegian, I love Scandinavian folklore, and this game lets me be a nerd while telling good, spooky stories.

Creating your character
- Level 1 start - Point buy (30 points) - HP is rolled (after level 1) -5.5e (2024) rules, species and classes - Books that can be used: the Player's Handbook, Forgotten Realms, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (Artificer only) and Arcana Unleashed (when it comes out) We will use Roll 20 both for maps and character sheets. I will guide you through it if you have not used that before. We will hold a session 0 where we will discuss character creation, but feel free to plan ahead. I require all characters to be non-evil aligned and to want to be an adventurer.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We use Roll 20 for maps and character sheets and Discord for voice chat. If you don't already have an account on these platforms, please make one before Session 0. You will need a computer that can run Roll 20. You can see the system requirements here: https://help.roll20.net/hc/en-us/articles/4403128607127-Roll20-System-Recommendations Beginners are welcome, but I do expect you to read up on the basic rules for your character, such as what the stats mean and what dice should be used.
What GM Ravna brings to the table
I have a Roll 20 Pro subscription and will be utilising all that it brings to the game. I also own the module and the necessary compendiums needed to make your characters with the books mentioned in character creation. I will show up prepared to run a great adventure for you, with interesting npc's, great monsters and good maps. I do play music during combat, but outside of that, I think it distracts from gameplay and roleplaying.
Homebrew rules
In 5.5e, drinking a potion is a Bonus Action. I will allow it to be drunk as an Action to get the full HP.

How GM Ravna creates a safe table
We will be using X, N, O cards via Roll20. Before session 0, I will send you a link to the lines and veils document I use, and we will go over the big no's during session 0. In session 0, we will also discuss the themes of the campaign, as well as go over character creation and table etiquette. We will also go over how to use Roll 20 if someone is new to the VVT.
