About the adventure

When word reaches the Horselords that something has formed along the edges of the Dorn Thon Mountains and the Snowlands, the warriors of the clans begin rallying to discover what has emerged. The Riders agree to meet at the most western fields and ride into the mountains to take a look. Rumors of a great battle somewhere in the valleys of the mountains echoed. Riders sent to investigate never return. Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months, as the women of the Horselord clans wait for the return of their brothers, husbands, and friends. But the riders do not come home. Instead, rumors spread from village to village. Warriors are discovered missing, gutted, shredded, and torn apart. Entire groups of men who once rode proudly across the plains have vanished, leaving behind only signs of a battle against something unknown. Nothing seems to have come from the mountains... Session 0: Located in the most southeastern province of Runebreak, you are ambushed in the golden fields of the plains. You and your fellow shieldmaidens are forced into battle. During the fight, you uncover the fate of someone from the party's backstory who never came home, as well as the enemy who is already deep into your territory. A war is still coming, and the fate of the men is unknown. Now, you, the women of the Horselords, must rise. With the warriors of your clans missing, the shieldmaidens will become the banners others rally behind. You must unite the Horselords, rally the maidens of your people, and save your homes, your lands, and those who cannot fight for themselves. Time is of the essence, but an attack too early could be fatal; too late means losing everything. Rally riders, save villages, and take back your land and avenge the men of Runebreak.

About me

Just like characters, my life keeps developing too. I love story collaboration and huge immersive worlds where everyone can shape their destiny.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will begin before session 0. Using the player's bible and getting to know the lore will be a huge asset. Starting level 3: Point system is Standard Array. Once characters are made, the player may provide a character image, though the cost of the game includes artwork for your character to be created.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We run our games from The Forge, through Foundry VTT. You will need Discord. A Clear working mic. All players use DnDbeyond character sheets(a link is provided to homebrew races/species) DnDBeyond Extension is also required. All needed things are free at no cost to the player.

What Dm/Gm Travis brings to the table

1. Though I lean into the rule of cool, and when story moments allow, there is a somewhat balanced approach to both rules as written and the rule of cool. 2. Music is provided every session, custom battlemaps made by me or paid from patrons. 3. I do push players to be involved with one another as all games are ultimately community-driven, as all players want to work together to create the story. 4. My goal is to help you feel immersed, so much so, that parties are able to dive right back in weekly, with me only needing to guide at moments while parties shape their own stories through role-play. 5. I do not allow players to pvp, unless the group agrees to it. 6. Though parties may have different alignments, ultimately, if the characters aren't contributing to one another, I will ask to rework the character so that it is benefiting everyone. (Team focused) Is the goal.

Homebrew rules

From time to time, players can ask to do something if given a reason such as "Im in the shadows, or high ground. Can i do this? I have also created a beta of "careers" in which players manually track a system where they can choose to be more. I don't always allow successes simply because someone got a Nat 20. (Example mysterious tablet from 2k years ago, suddenly deciphered by a cook background character) as there is some realism built into the game. This is where I focus on the "career" backstories.

Safety

How Dm/Gm Travis creates a safe table

Session 0 we talk about topics that are uncomfortable for players and do our best to avoid them altogether. Players can then decide to reach out directly to me in the moment, decide on X, N, O's, etc.
