About the adventure
Set in a world that juxtaposes a comedic bureaucracy with monster horror, the driving premise of the game is that the party works for the government to investigate monster attacks, curses, and other mysterious incidents. Players will bounce around settings in the United States to investigate mysteries and defeat the bad guys. You can expect fantasy violence, NPC deaths, and serious risk to players' characters. If you're looking for a Monster of the Week game with character focus and monster mystery twists, this is the game for you. I'll put a spotlight on both individual characters and also team dynamics. I would love to do the classic monster of the week TV series format of episodic monster hunts while keeping emotional continuity and allowing the past to come back to haunt the characters.

About me
I'm a current law student, lifelong storyteller, and eight year TTRPG veteran. Mostly experienced in Monster of the Week, I grew up on stories of original Dungeons & Dragons.

Creating your character
Start with a character sheet. MotW has a really simple character creation process, with free PDF downloads for character sheets. I can also supply game resources and pdfs, help guide new players through the creation process, and work with players to shape the setting into a home for the character. Ideally you'll come to session 0 with the sheet (though of course you don't have to make the sheet alone, and I can help you on Discord before hand!) and we will do the character connections aloud. For this setting, your characters need not be the Fox Mulder type - we can always ad lib a reason for your character to be on the team!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to join a discord server. Everything else will be provided within Discord.
What Spencer brings to the table
I'll bring you visuals: NPC boards, a variety of settings, and town maps. I want you to feel like you are in an open world setting, with a ton of freedom and immersion. I'm no voice actor, but NPCs will have distinct personalities, secrets, and agendas.

How Spencer creates a safe table
In Session 0 I'll discuss what everyone wants from the game and from their fellow players, what are hard nos and sensitive subjects, and talk about open door and X / N / O cards. I'll also be sure to check in with the gang out of character about in-character party dynamics and "bleed" from in-character stress.
