About the adventure
Welcome to Phandalin! This is a fantasy adventure for characters from levels 1–12 that begins in the frontier town of Phandalin, where simple jobs quickly grow into a much greater mystery. As strange events spread across the region, ancient secrets buried beneath the Sword Coast begin to awaken. What starts as a classic tale of goblins, bandits, and lost mines soon becomes a race to uncover the truth behind a shattered relic whose influence threatens to reshape the land itself. Players will explore forgotten ruins, delve into dangerous dungeons, battle monstrous foes, and forge alliances with the people of Phandalin as they uncover a conspiracy stretching far beyond the town's borders. Along the way they'll face difficult choices, uncover powerful artifacts, and confront ancient forces. Whether you're new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, the journey promises escalating challenges, rich storytelling, and a climactic battle against a threat lurking deep beneath the world.

About me
I'm Shaun, a very invested and player-focused DM. I've DMed for several groups over the years, and been a player as well. I have preferred being a DM because of how invested I get when I play D&D and I want to build an entire world for my players. I enjoy DMing for new players as well as anyone who just seems enthusiastic to play every week and has a sense of wonder and intrigue. I am very open minded to all homebrew subclasses and items within reason. Overall I'm just very passionate for D&D and would love to play with a long term group as passionate as I am!

Creating your character
Characters will start at level one and can pick from any official sourcebooks to make their character. We will be using 2024 rules, but any subclass from 2014 versions are welcome as well.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using D&D Beyond for character sheets, Roll20 for tabletop, and Discord for communication. We will be using an extension called Beyond20 to sync your character sheet rolls from D&D Beyond into roll20 to make things simple.
What Shaun brings to the table
I'm a DM that loves to see players use creativity over metagaming. I'm also very open to custom rulings if the situation calls for it. I'm not a rigid, close-minded DM. Rule of cool goes a long way for me, within reason. My sessions are usually a 50-50 split between roleplay/exploration and combat. I listen to my groups and let them vote on certain rulings if we ever come across something we want to implement or change. Overall, I'm very invested in my games and responsive to any players who want to privately ask questions or prepare.

How Shaun creates a safe table
We will have a session zero, and I will privately send every player a consent sheet for everything that they may feel uncomfortable with so we can avoid those things when we play. Anyone is free to message me about any further concerns about the content, my performance, or other player behavior.
