About the adventure
The Game: This is a play-by-post, heavy roleplay campaign where you and your fellow players will be gifted a defunct building in the hope of transforming it into a successful Inn. Build and manage to make the inn of your dreams. Track your spending, build relationships, and maybe even be able to buy the building from The Guild someday. Great for new and experienced players. The Beginning: To say that the Dusty Barrel Tavern was crowded tonight would be an understatement. Looking around you saw more men and women in armor, carrying heavy swords, and packed to the gills with survival equipment and potions than you had ever seen before. Sure, the occasional adventurer wasn’t so uncommon, but the sheer volume of them these past few weeks has been insane. Of course, you had heard the rumors. Less than a week’s travel to the east was a sleepy hamlet by the name of Lakelight. A dying town in the middle of a supposedly haunted forest, basking in the shadow of the great mountain Kalithalua. While unremarkable in its own right, rumors spread quickly that a group of adventurers discovered the entrance to the largest underground dungeon ever seen not too far from Lakelight. If the stories are to be believed, the underground labyrinth is unending and packed to the gills with untold treasures and riches. Hence, the influx of adventurers passing through Goldenkeep, this being the last major city on the forgotten road to Lakelight. You sip your drink as Nurgle leans in close to finish his thought. The half-goblin was not someone you fully trusted, but the offer on the table was worth listening to his rantings. “So like I says, there just ain’t no infrastructure there. No shops or smithy’s, no place for all them adventurin’ types to lay their heads. And the riches that they’re pullin’ from the ground is just going to waste in a burg that don’t even know what to do about all this fame they got. It’s a gold mine I’m tellin’ ya’.” He smiles and sips his drink, glancing around to see who else may be listening. When he’s satisfied, he leans in closer still… the rank alcohol on his breath hitting you in the face like a mule. “The Guild wants in on the action, but it ain't that easy. Lakelight is run by two families, and they’re dug in tighter than a tick I tell ya’. But ol’ Nurgles gots his ways, for sure... and a deed to a building. Only thing is I ain’t got the skills to be setting things up like that. In and Out’s are one thing, but runnin’ a respectable inn… well…” Nurgle leans back in his chair and smiles, “So deal bein, that you head out that way, set up something respectable, run it as you see fit, and ol’ Nurgle gets his fair cut. As long as the coin comes in on time then The Guild won’t have to be involved, and you get that fresh start you was lookin' for.” He extends his hand and you watch his smile grow wider, “Do we have ourselves a deal then?”

About me
Well met Adventurers! ✨ Hello everyone! My name is Noodle, and I am your humble Dungeon Master for hire! I have over 25 years of experience leading countless adventurers into dark endless dungeons, navigating political intrigue, solving noir style mysteries, surviving realms of nightmares, and being whisked away into worlds of imagination and wonder. 🎬 Storytelling has been in my life from an incredibly young age. Books and movies were consumed in mass. Video games, with their rich and deep storylines, filled my mind and fueled my creativity. I would endlessly write short stories and comic book adventures. That is, until I played D&D. Immediately, the role of Dungeon Master called to me. The rules of the game are fine and dandy, but what really drew me in was the storytelling. With a whisper and a word, worlds spawned from the corners of my mind. NPC’s come to life and become your greatest companions or your worst villains. A blank room becomes a grand ballroom filled with secrets and espionage. The world is a stage, and all I need is the actors. 📜 My greatest joy is creating a world where players, like YOU, can jump right in and play out your characters greatest adventures. Craft the character of your dreams with goals and flaws and fulfill their story arcs while on a daring high stakes adventure. Find love, fight villains, save innocence, seek riches, and right the wrongs that I have laid out before you. Unite with fellow players, bond over hardships and tragedies, and celebrate the good times, the simple times, and the times we share together. 🌈 As your Narrator, I bring a genuine love for collaborative storytelling and world building. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced player or if you are trying roleplaying games for the first time, I craft each session to make sure that everyone is included and has a chance to enjoy the limelight. All people are welcome and included in this safe place where you can explore and have fun! ⚔️ So pack your bags, grab your dice, and bring a pal! The call to adventure is ringing true in the deeps. Do you have what it takes to change the world and join in on the adventure of a lifetime? Let’s find out, together!

Creating your character
We'll be making level 1 characters of any race and class as long as it's been officially published. I have blank form fillable PDF's that you can use to write down your character or use whatever software you feel comfortable with. I only ask that I retain a copy of your character sheet for stat purposes. Rolling stats can be standard array or Roll 4D6 and drop the lowest number. Either will be fine for our purposes. Just keep in mind that while combat is NOT the focus of this campaign, and you all are not really adventurers... you will be living outside of the world’s largest mega dungeon and all the dangers that it brings. And I don't just mean the monsters. Rival families own the town and want to fiercely gouge the adventurers. Tons of fighters and mages with little to do between their excursions. And competing shops and establishments all vying for the riches. Also good to know is that while we CAN start with two players and this can most certainly be a fulfilling solo slice of life. If there are more players than you each have made the deal to fix up this Inn. You’ll be partners.
Both players are selecting the types of characters they would like to be. Not too late to jump in on the action before it begins!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We'll be playing over discord so you'll need access to that. Upon accepting a seat you'll be sent the link to the server. I plan to post every day (7 days a week) unless some serious real life situations happen. Expect for me to post several times a day if need be. This is my social life outside of work. It's not mandatory for you to post several times a day, but chiming in as often as you can would be appreciated to keep things moving.
What Noodle brings to the table
Lakelight is more dramatic than it has any right to be. However, the players can choose how deep you wish to go as far as local politics, gathering resources, or recruiting from the various factions moving through the town. Thats also not bringing up The Guild who has their fingers in your fantasy inn. While the majority of the game will be theatre of the mind, I will have a constantly updating map of the Inn as you make renovations, decorate areas, and build it up from scratch. Do you wanna add a tavern to your inn? Maybe a casino or card game area? What about a laundry? Mail depot? Invite The Guild to operate out of a room? Set up an alchemy shop? Add on a stable? Vetenary care? A cobbler corner? Or operate a grocery or even your own trading center? Maybe you can get enough political leverage to buy a second location? Take over the town? The possibilities are nearly endless. Just don't expect them to be fast or easy, lol. I'll also be making small combat maps in the event you get into a fight. We'll also have a seperate fight area in case some of you are fighting and the others are trying to live their lives doing something else. There is also a virtual dice roller in Discord that we'll be using. If you are not familiar with Dice Witch, it is very easy to use. Don't worry too much about it. You won't have to try and remember a million commands for it.
Homebrew rules
Not too much here besides me dictating advantage and disadvantage in social situations. Maybe through RP you are buttering up the tax collector, or maybe you upset the traveling merchant not knowing they're the only marble supplier this side of the mountain. We'll play it by ear and see how it goes!

How Noodle creates a safe table
Being that this is a play-by-post, and a cozy game, I don't suppose there will be much in the way of touchy subjects. But I do maintain an open door policy and we have a checklist for you to fill out prior to game play. The content warnings listed below are probably the worst of what to expect, IF if ever comes up at all.
