About the adventure

Amnesia can really mess with you. You forget places, people, and things. What's worse is when you forget yourself. Waking up in a damp, dimly lit stone room with a handful of other people doesn't make it any easier, either. You don't know who they are or what kind of people they are. Are they good? Evil? Somewhere in between? Come to think of it, who are YOU? What kind of person are you? Everything is hazy, you can't even remember how you got here or where here is. One thing is for sure: You're going to have to figure it out as you go, because you need to find a way out. And once you are out of this room, it's time to find who put you here, and get some answers to questions you don't even know you have yet. In this campaign, you and the rest of the party will take on the roles of a Human, a Halfling, a Dwarf, an Elf, and a Gnome. And that's all the information you begin with. You don't know your Class, you don't know any abilities, you don't know your NAME. Work together to escape the dungeon, find yourselves, and find whoever put you here.

About me

Hi, I'm SaladProof! I'm an old-school TTRPG player. Started before D&D had editions. Now, I run 5e, Castles & Crusades, and the occasional Shadowrun campaign. Currently, my friends and I run a podcast called the Curse of Ever After, and I am DM'ing our Dark Tales campaign using 5e and based on the fairy tales we all know and love. We are a small podcast, just broke into the double digits for followers on Spotify, but we have fun and that's what we like about it. I've been a player and GM for years. Took a break shortly after high school, then came back in after reconnecting with an old friend (RIP Colter, love you brother). Now, aside from running the Dark Tales game remotely through VTT, I also like to do in-person games with another group that includes my oldest son and some family friends. I found this site through the Arcane Almanac, and by just cruising around found that I might like to be a professional GM. I'm not sure about availability just yet, there are some days that are absolutely off the table, but I am flexible and just like to kind of roll with it, see what everyone likes.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will be given pre-generated character sheets with missing information. This information will be filled in as the campaign progresses.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need an account with Fantasy Grounds Unity, download the FGU app to their PC, and select the proper game using provided details. I will provide a link to a Discord server that players must join so we can have voice chat. This server is for active players of the current running game only. Once the game/campaign has ended, players will be removed from the server until/unless they join another game hosted by me.

What SaladProof brings to the table

I will have background, ambient music and sounds as appropriate to the situation, though there may be times of silence. Rule of Cool applies to all sessions, but if there is something particularly out there that a player wants to try, let's discuss it first so I can get an idea of what is being tried. Modifications might be done, but I'm open to almost anything. Players should not feel pressured to roleplay, do voices, or even play in first-person. The goal is to have fun!

Homebrew rules

I play with modified criticals, both successes and failures. I also don't like death in games, even though it happens, so I have things that can happen if you fail to stay alive. Rerolling characters, especially in this campaign, is something nobody wants to do. Instead, let's give you a nasty scar, or some nervous tic, maybe a small fear. Most basic actions that don't take too much effort I can consider as a bonus action, but if there's a question about what is and isn't, let's discuss it.

Safety

How SaladProof creates a safe table

We will go over the basic game idea in Session 0, as well as discussing Lines & Veils. These will be documented in Discord for each campaign so they can be referred to as we go along. If someone is feeling unwelcome or unsafe, we can stop the session immediately to address it. Session lengths are dependent on everyone's comfort level, and breaks will happen whenever someone needs one for any reason. After each session, we will stick around for a few minutes to discuss how everyone is feeling with game progression and if there is anything that needs to be addressed.
