About the adventure

New campaign! Sessions 0 and 1 are free. The small town of Sandpoint seems like a pleasant enough place on the surface. The residents are generally a friendly and welcoming group, and it even has a charming nickname, the Light of the Lost Coast. Yet not is all as it appears on the surface. In its short 60 year existence, Sandpoint has experienced more than its fair share of tragedies: harrowing fires, multiple tsunamis, prolific serial killers, attacks by giants and dragons, and more. But each time, a hero or group of adventurers stepped up to save the day. It turns out that something sinister has been manipulating events all along. Now, seven separate dooms have come together, converging on the region in a way that could finally spell the end for Sandpoint. A new band of heroes must step in to save this legendary small town from certain doom and destruction! Along the way you will for face a wide variety of unique and terrifying in memorable battles. But this adventure is far more than a dungeon slog, as you will explore the town of Sandpoint and form bonds with the people you will protect. *Seven Dooms for Sandpoint* is a milestone volume as the 200th installment of Paizo’s long-running Pathfinder Adventure Paths. It returns to the town where it all began in Volume 1 with *Burnt Offerings*.

About me

My name is Wade, a.k.a. the Battle Barrister, and I have been playing D&D on and off since the ancient times of the red Basic Set and AD&D 1st edition. My interests drifted away to athletics, particularly hockey, and focusing on my academics and eventual career as an attorney. I came back to the fold and started playing 5e regularly following a spinal cord injury, thanks in large part to the rise of VTTs as an option to play remotely. I have now come to enjoy life behind the DM/GM screen. I am drawn to the ability to help direct the story and embody numerous characters. Over the past few years my interests have shifted to playing and running Pathfinder 2e. I find it to be an elegant system and enjoy teaching new players. I have recently become what I like to term a semi-pro GM, in that I charge a nominal fee for my services mainly to recoup costs and find players willing to invest their time and effort into the campaign. Along the way, I have developed a handful of repeat clients and fostered a few friendships, and I hope to add to that group.

Character creation

Creating your character

Upon joining the game, I will send you links to the Discord and Foundry servers. We can discuss your ideas as a group, and you have access to create the character in Foundry. Characters will start at 4th level. For those not familiar with Foundry, the PF2e module provides access to all Paizo materials and you can drag and drop ancestries, feats, backgrounds, etc. into your sheet. Typically I use the following pattern for character creation options (ancestries, backgrounds, feats, etc): Common - fine Uncommon- probably good but ask first Rare - convince me To clarify, this process applies to the various Paizo rulebooks. Character creation options from adventures other than the current one are unlikely to be approved. (Conversely, uncommon and rare options from the Seven Dooms player guide are fine.) While Seven Dooms is primarily a dungeon crawl, the surrounding locale plays a significant part in the story. The history of Sandpoint, the significant people and places, and even the local prejudices all come into play. Moreover, the party members are experienced 4th level adventurers who are known about town and specifically selected for this mission. Thus, your character should have a strong connection to Sandpoint, preferably living in the area for at least a few years. We can work on this in session 0, and discuss things like associations with local people or organizations, and even amongst the party members. We will be using the following variant rules: - Free Archetype (Dedication at Level 2) - Gradual ability boosts - Free background lore boosts - Expertise in medicine gives you the Continual Recovery feat for free

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Not much preparation is required. If you are familiar with Pathfinder 2e rules, great, but otherwise I can teach you the basics as we go. There is a short player guide for this adventure, which includes local information and helpful recommendations for player options. Definitely read through this document (available for download from the Paizo website, and I will provide a copy in the Discord server). In terms of technology you will just need a reasonably modern computer, along with a headset/microphone for audio through Discord. You will obviously need a Discord account, and to create an account for logging into Foundry through my hosting instance Once invited to the game, the group and I will chat on Discord about the outline of the adventure, character creation, and general nonsense to get to know one another.

What Wade brings to the table

I have the Foundry VTT reliably self-hosted, along with the official Seven Dooms for Sandpoint game package purchased through Paizo/Foundry. This includes high-quality maps, engrossing ambient sounds and music, and a full compendium for Pathfinder and the adventure. I also incorporate additional ambient music and maps. I have installed a judicious collection of helpful Foundry modules, and am open to further suggestions. The game audio will be run through Discord, and I maintain an active discussion server. I do have some physical limitations with my hands. I have managed to find some workarounds, but I ask for your patience at times. I try to create memorable NPCs with unique personalities and voices, and tailor the story to the characters. I generally stick to rules as written with Pathfinder 2e, since it is such an intricately balanced game. Particularly creative actions and solutions will generally be rewarded, though. We will run the PF2e remaster rules to the extent possible. I have a few house rules that are player friendly, including free archetype and gradual ability boosts. Lastly, all are welcome at my tables and I do my best to make everyone have a comfortable, fun experience!

Safety

How Wade creates a safe table

I have a list of player expectations and safety protocols in my discord server and we can go over specifics during session zero. Notably, Seven Dooms for Sandpoint involves an emphasis on supernatural events, undead creatures, devils, and mental manipulation, so you may be uncomfortable if these themes disturb you. My games have a 10 minute break about midway through the session. Players are encouraged to (publicly or privately) request a break if they are uncomfortable with the game material or discussion. If you need a break for other reasons, we will likely continue the game to the extent possible (other players have paid to be there, after all). My door is always open for discussion. Never feel bad about communicating your critiques, problems, issues with other players, etc. to me. I believe that most problems can be handled through communication.
