About the adventure
Idle chatter around the village says that a band of richly dressed adventurers now frequents the taproom of the Feral Dog, Diamond Lake’s most notorious tavern. The confident heroes of the Free City spoke of hard-won battles on their journey to Diamond Lake, and of their intention to explore the long-abandoned Stirgenest Cairn on the lake’s distant southeastern shore. The players, being natives of Diamond Lake, know that cairn is of explored by the community’s youth, who always find it completely empty of marvels and perfectly harmless. Not so another cairn within a day’s ride of the village, however. This cairn lies near an iron mine that went dry about 50 years ago, and its owner’s charter apparently elapsed when he died a few years later. Situated thusly in a sort of no-man’s land, the cairn was all but forgotten, its yawning entrance overgrown with weeds and choked with collapsed debris. Rediscovered by a curious teenager three years ago, the cairn has since been a sort of community secret held by Diamond Lake’s youth, who dare each other to disappear into its cyclopean entrance as a test of mettle. Occasionally, when the wind is just right, haunting, almost magical tones emerge from the depths of the forlorn tomb. Those who know of its location call the place the Whispering Cairn. Hey! I'm tieflingpsion. I'll be your DM for this one. This adventure is set in Greyhawk and uses Pathfinder 2e. I aim to include a nice mix of players both new to RPGs and old, and playing this classic adventure for a very old school experience of pulpey tabletop fantasy adventure. I will inevitably have my own unique spin on it that will get quite surreal or existential at times. When it comes to magic and the supernatural I really like to explore the underlying meaning, the cosmological and spiritual significance and base human feelings that these kinds of otherworldly archetypal creatures and magical concepts evoke. I also can't help but make jokes some time, and similarly enjoy a lot of story beats about the beauty of simple rustic life and nature. I like to balance it out. My game is roleplay heavy, meaning lots of thinking in character, thinking about your character's motivations, and primarily staying focused on feeling immersed in your character's experience of the world and it's people as opposed to get caught up in the game mechanics. That said, I play with the game rules as they are written, and my encounters are balanced around some variation in their difficulty, and can be tactically quite challenging and dangerous. We will begin a session zero once we have four players signed on, and any players who join after that make sure you coordinate with me ahead of time so I can brief you on the ground rules of my table and we can figure out how your character joins the party within the story. Reach out if you have any questions!

About me
I'm 32, a trans woman, a DJ, and DM. 8 years experience, 3 campaigns, too many one shots to count! I specialize in atmosphere. I like deep immersive roleplaying, where we let the world really soak in. I love reading your long backstories and interweaving my setting with them. My goal in DMing is prompting you to understand your PCs motivations and to make changes in the world. Inevitably we will have some fun or goofy moments as we play, but what I really put a ton of effort into is a living breathing that draws you into your role. I also focus on comraderie! I'll try to shine the spotlight on everyone, introduce everyone, and bring to light our shared interests. I also find that most of the time everyone's character has a little bit of themselves in it, and when the world presents opportunities for characters to talk to each other, learn more about each other, or bond, it always kind of reflects a little bit into the real relationships at the table. Toyed with all kinds of systems and like many keep coming back to D&D-like systems. I'm mostly rules are written but I make up rulings, for both mundane and magical improvisation on top of rules as written. I will often be running conversions of old adventure paths and modules. Some of my favorites are paizo dungeon magazine modules or far out TSR settings like planescape or dark sun. Open to running just about anything including modern stuff, just ask, especially if it's "weird", "pulpey", or "atmospheric"! Let's quest!

Creating your character
Characters will start at level one and use the optional rules for free archetypes. Any archetype you want. If you don't know what that is reach out, or feel free to just make a level one character and you can add an archetype later. Use a standard character sheet or character builder of your choice. Make sure to have your character ready before the session and send me a copy. Let me know if you are thinking about any uncommon or especially rare options ahead of time, they will probably be fine but it's helpful for me to know you are picking them. This is because some of the uncommon or rare ancestries can get pretty gonzo (wacky) in some standard fantasy settings, and I want to make sure you feel like your character is a part of the world even if they are something really left field. Third party content off of rollforcombat is probably fine, I find their stuff to be pretty balanced since they have former paizo staff, but treat it as rare, ask me about it first. If you have something you are itching to play from any other third party publisher besides rollforcombat, let me know at least a week before the session so I can familiarize myself with it and review for balance.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a discord and an owlbear rodeo account. Owlbear rodeo is where I'll do digital maps. Occasionally I will set up physical maps or terrain with a spare camera pointed at them on discord.
What Tiefling brings to the table
I do voices. I am no voice actor but I'm pretty good at them for a laymen. I find that doing that voice completely envelops me in the character, and for some reason I immediately understand what they are thinking and all their motivations better than if I didn't know how they speak. I think it has to do with the way I read people, body language and tone speak volumes! And of course, when I put together a cogent voice and embody the character all my players love the character because it reads clearly. Don't feel pressured to voice your character, but also I am highly encouraging and would be overjoyed to host the chill judgement-free environment for you to try out your voice acting chops for the first time and can give you tips and tricks for how I do it. I have pretty hardcore combat sometimes and enjoy putting together an encounter with a solid environment, set pieces and terrain to interact with. I narrate pretty much every turn of an action scene play by play and how your intended actions physically pan out and how the NPCs react to them. I try to keep the emotional pace intense and try to represent the speed at which everything in encounter mode happens. Sometimes I like to use turn based encounters for stuff besides just fighting as well. I am pretty rules as written for the most part. But I will improvise rules if you are trying to do something that you should feasibly be able to do. When I improvise rules, that ruling is one and done. Never to be quoted again. Then later we may discover an official option, come up with our own homebrew for the option, or modify an existing option and add it to a running homebrew document. I have no houserules as it stands
Homebrew rules
I like to start from the beginning with rules as written for pathfinder 2e. As we progress, there may be situations that call for homebrew, and I'm open to making up some feats as needed.

How Tiefling creates a safe table
Our X cards, N cards, and O cards will be private messaged. Just message the letter. I will mute all other messages on discord when we are playing besides my players and keep a careful eye out for these messages, as well as any other thoughts or feelings you have in the middle of the session. I also want to iterate that if ever you feel like you want to take a break from the session at any time, whether you are capable of communicating it or not, you can take a break as long as you want with zero judgement. I will keep our lines and veils document printed out in front of me during the course of the session. Will need you to fill out the document yourself and I will add it to the shared version of lines and veils. As for the content of this particular campaign, it is horror and contains some depictions of undead creatures. I prefer focusing on the spiritual and existential implications of undeath rather than lingering too much on any graphic depictions of their form, but physical descriptions will be happening. I am always open to discussion, modification of minor details, and even some modification of some elements of the story to accommodate if you are into this campaign despite having some specific lines or veils that intersect with it! I will keep a running check asking how people feel about the session at the end of each session as a group, and encourage you to reach out in DMs once we log out as well. I want to hear your feedback on how it felt whether it intersected with your lines and veils or not, whether you felt you had enough time to shine in the spotlight, and anything else you ever feel like talking about. I'm an open book!
