About the adventure

As a traveller, you saw a notification on the job board from your favorite inn: adventurers needed, with a reward in coins. Please send help! Such calls cannot be ignored; you spent days traversing the land and came to the place they called “the borderland.” People here treated you warmly, with hospitality, at the first glance, there is nothing wrong with the place; it is just…really far from Baldur’s Gate, and far from your hometown. But soon, you notice the abnormality in the cult activities in the wilderness. What are they planning? Would you investigate? And more importantly, stop it, while it could be? Heroes of the Borderland is the perfect “learn to play” adventure due to its simplicity and condensed content in the box, built to jump right in with no experience with the game at all (but if you want to build your personalized character, just direct message me so I could help ;)) The first session (session 0 - all the basic are included in this session) is Free, for you to see if my DM style fits for you and the other sessions can expand to 12 sessions in total. It’s best if we can schedule weekly sessions. Carve your own story and restore hope to the residents of the Borderland now, before it is too late!

About me

Hello everyone, I'm Howard, 28 years old. I've been a dnd player for 2+ year and been DMing for about 1 year and a half. I have been in the customer service industry for about 5+ year and decided to switch my career path recently. Since I was a kid, I have always dreamt of having a party to explore the dungeons and defeat the bad guys and that's how I find Dungeons and Dragons. The love for the game is nourished by the happiness and excitement that I and my players shared together along the way. To me, my goal is to deliver the best stories possible and to have people around me genuinely enjoy the game as players. Players new and experienced alike are all welcome—the only thing needed is a good attitude! So why not getting in and build our stories together? Hope to see you at my table!

Character creation

Creating your character

👥 Please build your character for the short campaign in Roll20, I will send you the game link so you can create the character using my books. I will be fully available to provide assistance/suggestions and answer any questions on discord to help. The starting level is 1, and you can use Standard Array or Point Buy for stats. You will start with the starter equipment (If you’re unsure what to pick, I can recommend items that fit your class!) And since it's a level 1 adventure, the newbies are welcome along the way, I'm happy to guide your through your very first campaign if it is one. We're playing on the 2024 ruleset, and you can use any official content, so long as it's the most recently updated version. You may utilize any of the books I have on Roll20 to build your character. And if you have any other integration that works with roll20, we will cover that in the onboarding session to make it work in our game. I also have pre-generated characters if you are unsure which builds should you pick or need a quick jumpstart.

What Howard Trinh brings to the table

📖 Full Access to Roll20 Compendium: All purchased content on my Roll20 account, so you’ll always have the rules and options at your fingertips. Maps, handouts & unique magic items! 🎨 A Roll20 game with high-quality maps, dynamic lighting, animations, and curated music. 🌟 Visual Immersion: Tokens and art assets that bring your characters, NPCs, and the world to life. 🤖 Smooth onboarding and tech help before we start 📚 Supportive GM: I focus on cinematic storytelling and combat scenes with collaborative roleplay from the players. Rules are important, but I embrace the Rule of Cool when it makes the story more exciting. 📜Optional character/build advice if you want it (no pressure)

Homebrew rules

🔹 Drinking potion is a bonus action, if you drink a potion as the main action, you will get maximum healing from the dices 🔹 There is no cap on fall damage 🔹 Monsters, their abilities and stats can and will be altered so don't be surprised if common known enemies use new technics. 🔹 No hard encumbrance rules that micromanage item weight stats. But please keep it realistic; you cannot bring the entire household of equipment with you while travelling. 🔹 Flanking: A creature and its ally are both adjacent (on the opposite side) to the same enemy then both allies gain advantage on all melee attack rolls against that flanked target.
