About the adventure
Captured by the drow and stripped of your freedom, you begin your adventure deep beneath the surface in the vast and terrifying Underdark. Escape is only the beginning. As you struggle to survive, you'll navigate a world of alien civilizations, ancient ruins, bizarre creatures, and deadly environments where food, light, and sanity can be just as valuable as gold. Pursued relentlessly by drow slavers, you'll forge fragile alliances with the Underdark's strange and often dangerous inhabitants, never knowing who can be trusted. But something far worse is happening beneath the earth. The barriers between worlds have begun to fail, and the Demon Lords of the Abyss now walk the Underdark. Their presence spreads madness, corruption, and destruction wherever they go. As entire civilizations descend into chaos, your party must uncover the truth behind this catastrophe and decide whether to flee... or stand against powers no mortals were ever meant to face. The Game The adventure begins as soon as two players are ready. Additional players can join the campaign as the story progresses. Groups typically range from 2–6 players. Sessions are approximately: 40% Combat 30% Exploration 30% Roleplay Expect survival, tactical combat, political intrigue, memorable NPCs, difficult moral choices, and a world where every decision has consequences. The Underdark is dangerous, unpredictable and often terrifying, but those who survive will have experienced one of the most dangerous settings in the Forgotten Realms. Between sessions, players can pursue downtime activities such as crafting, research, training, gathering information, and developing their characters while the story continues to unfold. Current Content Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules. 2024 Player's Handbook classes. Artificer available. Characters may choose subclasses from either the 2024 or 2014 rules where appropriate (latest version). Primarily Rules as Written and Rules as Intended with limited homebrew.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I am seasoned East Coast Dungeon Master and recognized as a Top GM on StartPlaying who specializes in running long-term campaigns for both new and veteran players, both in person around New York City and online. My goal is to build campaigns that last far beyond a few sessions, where characters grow, relationships develop and player decisions leave lasting marks on the world. 🧙🏾 My games feature significant tactical combat, exploration and roleplay in a persistent world that reacts to the choices your party makes. My campaigns feature professional-quality maps, custom encounters, expansive lore, and challenges to create adventures that feel alive. ⚔️ Between sessions, the adventure doesn't stop. Players have the opportunity to pursue downtime activities, claim and manage treasure, craft potions and scrolls, train, research ancient lore, and continue developing their characters between sessions. These ongoing story elements allow you to build up your character and also help keep players engaged and make the campaign feel like a living world rather than a series of disconnected sessions. 🗺️ My background in horror screenwriting and film production influences the pacing, atmosphere, and dramatic tension of my games. Whether you're exploring ancient ruins, negotiating with powerful factions, or surviving desperate battles, I aim to create memorable moments that players talk about long after the session ends.🏺 All of my campaigns take place in the Forgotten Realms and are loosely interconnected. The actions of powerful characters and world events in one campaign may subtly influence another. For example, the Death Curse from Tomb of Annihilation may have repercussions far beyond Chult. 🎭 I run D&D 5E primarily rules-as-written and rules-as-intended with only limited homebrew. Creativity is always encouraged, clever ideas are rewarded, and while the world has genuine consequences, every challenge is designed to be fair. I also have a list of table rules to help keep play light and fun (see below). If you're looking for a reliable weekly group, a dedicated Game Master, and a campaign you can invest in for the long term, I'd love to have you at my table.

Creating your character
Character Creation Use Point Buy for ability scores. Use the latest version of any class, species, background, or feat. Where appropriate, 2014 options may be used if no updated version exists. Characters begin at 1st level with standard starting equipment. If joining an ongoing campaign (typically levels 5–10), your character receives 750 gp to purchase equipment and magic items from the DM's approved list. Bonus Languages: You gain a number of additional languages equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum 0). This campaign uses experience points (XP) for advancement rather than milestone leveling. Session Rules Everyone begins each session with Inspiration. Use it or lose it. The goal is to encourage cinematic and memorable moments every game. Loot Distribution: At the end of each adventure, everyone (including NPC companions) rolls 1d100. Highest roll chooses first, followed by the next highest until all treasure has been claimed. NPCs participate in treasure rolls but cannot select magic items.

Homebrew rules
Character Options (2024 Rules) This campaign uses the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons rules. For all player options and content, use the most recent official version available for any race, class, subclass, feat or spell. If an option has a 2024 version, you must use that version. If it has not yet been updated, you may use its 2014 official version. For example, you may use the 2014 Hexblade Warlock because it has not yet been updated for 2024. Dungeon Master's Guide content, including magic items and monsters, is subject to my discretion and may not follow the newer versions. This campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms and uses official content appropriate to that setting.

How Drakeen creates a safe table
The Dos and Don'ts of Server Etiquette: How to Play Nice and Have Fun Remember that these rules apply everywhere on the server, from text channels to voice calls to the game itself. No place is safe if you're misbehaving. But don't worry - as long as you're playing by the rules, you should have nothing to fear. Just keep it clean and have fun especially for the kiddos in game and out! Spoiler alert. Here are the rules. 1. Don't be a bully, unless you want to get beat up by the virtual equivalent of the school principal. Trust me you don't want to meet the principal. 2. Keep politics and religion out of the game, unless you enjoy stirring up trouble like a troll under a bridge, well even if you like stirring up trouble like a troll and this includes all types of trolls including internet trolls. In short, no trolling unless playing one in game. If that's the case I'm sorry for you. Trolls are yucky. 3. Be courteous to others, or risk being banished to the land of the forgotten. Actually it's less a risk and more than like a guaranty as rude people generally have a low charisma and fail their saving throw when banished. 4. The staff's word is law and generally RAW, but feel free to speak up if you think they're wrong - just be prepared for the consequences [insert ominous music here]. 5. This is a welcoming community, so don't be a jerk and ruin it for everyone else. We're all here to have fun, not to judge each other based on our differences. 6. No cheating by using out-of-game knowledge, unless you want to be called out faster than a wizard casting a fireball or have your wizards fireball come back to hit you. 7. Keep the romance PG-13, or else you might find yourself in the middle of a love triangle with a timeout and a warning. So no explicit content, no erotic role play and if you think it may not be appropriate don't post it. 8. Malicious behavior will not be tolerated, so keep your mean streak in check or risk a one-way ticket to the dungeon. 9. Politics are a no-go in public chat, so take your heated debates elsewhere or risk a showdown with the moderators. 10. Leave the PvP at the door - we're all in this together, so don't be that guy who ruins the game for everyone else. 11. Follow the rules or face the consequences, from a gentle warning to an outright ban. Three strikes and you're out - don't say we didn't warn you. 12. The rules might change, so stay up-to-date or risk getting left behind like a level one adventurer in a dragon's lair.
