About the adventure
Ongoing campaign — new players welcome. I’ll catch you up and work your character naturally into the story. The professor is dead. Summoned to the quiet village of Ravengro for the funeral of a respected scholar and friend, you expect a solemn farewell. Instead, you find a town gripped by fear, haunted by old grudges, and overshadowed by the blackened ruins of Harrowstone Prison—a place where some of the most notorious criminals in Ustalav met a fiery end decades ago. Now, something has awakened within those walls, and the dead are no longer resting peacefully. Haunting of Harrowstone is a Gothic horror mystery set in the mist-shrouded land of Ustalav, Pathfinder's answer to classic horror tales such as Dracula, Sleepy Hollow, and Frankenstein. This adventure blends investigation, roleplay, exploration, and dangerous combat as the heroes uncover dark secrets, confront restless spirits, and piece together the truth behind a tragedy that refuses to stay buried. My games focus heavily on atmosphere and immersion. Expect richly detailed maps in Foundry VTT, custom ambient soundscapes, memorable NPCs, player-driven roleplay, and a living world that reacts to your decisions. Combat is meaningful and dangerous, but the greatest challenges often come from solving mysteries, earning trust, and deciding how far you're willing to go when faced with true horror. This game is ideal for players who enjoy character-driven stories, supernatural mysteries, and a darker fantasy experience. Whether you're new to Pathfinder First Edition or a veteran adventurer, you'll find a welcoming table where creativity, teamwork, and great storytelling are at the heart of every session. Joining an ongoing campaign? No problem. New players are welcome to join the story even though the campaign is already underway. I’ll personally bring you up to speed on the events, characters, and mysteries uncovered so far, and we’ll work together to introduce your character naturally into the campaign. You will not be expected to already know the story—or Pathfinder 1E—to jump in.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I’m Michael, the Game Master behind The Iron Quill Guild Gaming Studio. I’ve been running tabletop RPGs for nearly 20 years, with experience ranging from classic fantasy and tactical dungeon crawls to horror, science fiction, investigative games, and narrative-heavy campaigns. I currently run multiple games every week across a wide range of systems, both online and in person. My online games make extensive use of Foundry VTT, along with custom maps, ambient audio, visual effects, handouts, and other tools designed to create an immersive tabletop experience rather than simply moving tokens around a map. My style combines strong preparation with player freedom. I enjoy memorable NPCs, mysteries, exploration, tactical combat, character development, and letting player decisions genuinely change the direction of the story. I’m comfortable working with both experienced players and people learning a system for the first time. Rules matter, but the ultimate goal is always the same: give the players a great night of gaming and make them excited for the next session. If you’re looking for a consistent GM who takes preparation seriously, shows up every week, and is invested in your characters and your experience at the table, welcome to the Iron Quill Guild.

Creating your character
Character creation is collaborative. Once you join the campaign, you’ll be invited to the Iron Quill Guild Discord, where we can talk through character ideas, party composition, backgrounds, and any questions you have about Pathfinder 1E. Because this is an ongoing campaign, I’ll also help you create a character who can enter the existing story naturally rather than feeling dropped into the middle of someone else’s adventure. New to Pathfinder 1E? That’s completely fine. I can walk you through the process and help with character creation, Foundry setup, and learning the system.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Games are hosted through Foundry VTT, with Discord used for voice chat, campaign discussion, announcements, and communication between sessions. You’ll need a computer, stable internet connection, and working microphone. A webcam is optional. Before your first session, I’ll help make sure your character and Foundry access are ready to go and answer any questions about the campaign or Pathfinder 1E. New players are absolutely welcome, and rules guidance is available throughout play.
What Michael brings to the table
I run my games with an emphasis on atmosphere, immersion, preparation, and consistency. For Haunting of Harrowstone, that means detailed Foundry environments, atmospheric audio, memorable NPCs, mysteries to unravel, meaningful combat, and a world that responds to player decisions. I respect the Pathfinder 1E ruleset while still leaving room for creative solutions, cinematic moments, and the occasional Rule of Cool when it genuinely improves the game. Rules questions are always welcome. My goal isn't to make players prove how well they know Pathfinder—it’s to give everyone at the table room to roleplay, experiment, solve problems, laugh, take risks, and become invested in the story. Above all, you can expect a GM who shows up prepared and takes your time seriously. This is a premium hosted experience for players who enjoy Gothic horror, dark fantasy, character-driven storytelling, meaningful danger, and victories that feel earned.
Homebrew rules
I primarily run Pathfinder 1E rules as written, but I don’t allow rules debates to grind the game to a halt. If an unusual situation comes up, I’ll make a reasonable ruling, keep the game moving, and research it afterward if necessary. I’ve been playing and running Pathfinder 1E for many years and am very comfortable with the system, but I believe the rules exist to support the player experience—not replace it. Creative ideas are encouraged, and I’m always willing to hear a player’s reasoning when they want to attempt something unusual.

How Michael creates a safe table
Player comfort and respectful table conduct are important at all Iron Quill Guild games. Players are welcome to privately message me about Lines & Veils, hard limits, or sensitive subjects they would prefer to avoid. Carrion Crown is a Gothic horror campaign and may include themes involving violence, death, undead creatures, cults, supernatural horror, disturbing imagery, and occasional body horror. Those themes are used to create atmosphere and tension rather than to deliberately make players uncomfortable. An Open Door policy is always in effect. Players may step away, take a break, or privately contact me at any time without needing to justify themselves. The goal is a dark and immersive horror campaign built around collaborative storytelling, player agency, and a table where everyone can enjoy themselves.
