About the adventure
For centuries, the inari have answered prayers of those who honor them and blessed the lands with bountiful harvests and protection from the elements. Some, however, refused the gods and sated their own cravings for power and influence. Air wafts with the stench of rags burning under fallen trees, and those unfortunate enough wake to their lovers pressing a knife to their throats with hushed whispers of cleansing by holy fire. All while she watches and welcomes a new soul to her collection. Another village becomes her new target, and it is up to you to see through her falsehoods and bring peace to the land once more.

About me
My name is Ryan, and I am an expat that lived overseas for six years before returning to the States and restarting at 30. I got into D&D about six months after returning as I was in need of a social hobby and came across StartPlaying. From there, I joined my first campaign knowing next to nothing. Since then, I have gone from staring at a tavernkeeper clueless about what to say to a player of multiple personas including ones that I would never have dreamed of role playing due to sheer difference in personality. From my love of the game, I game DMing a shot with my family and had a full party of six running Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. It was utterly nerve-wracking moments before starting, but once it was time to start, I ran the campaign as best I could, learning more about running a table along several weeks. I always received great feedback from my sessions, and even months later, my table still vividly recalls specific moments from the campaign that I had completely forgotten about. Although I was an amateur DM, that was an indication that I did my job well. Now I run games here on StartPlaying!

Creating your character
Premade characters are available for this One-Shot. If you prefer to create your own character, character creation will follow base 2024 rules. Please avoid homebrewed characters at this time. Characters can be made in D&D Beyond, though should a particular class be unavailable on that platform, advance notice can be given to me, and I can create the character in Foundry ahead of time.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will absolutely need a Discord account for voice chat. D&D Beyond is preferred for quick character import, but it is not a hard requirement. The game will be run through Foundry VTT, but you do not need a software license for it. A link to the game will be provided.
