About the adventure
Somehow your band of mercenaries are the rightful governors of the frontier settlement of Phandalin. On the surface, your job is clear: help the town prosper, and defend it from threats. But let’s be honest. You’re a buffer to keep complaints from reaching the Lord Protector’s ear. As long you stand between him and word of “goblin problems”, you’ve got free reign. The only thing stopping you from kicking back and enjoying your rule is the nagging feeling that something’s not quite right here. Something in the darkness. Something terrible. Much like the town of Phandalin, the story has tremendous potential waiting to be realized by players like you. It might look like a series of dungeon crawls on the surface, but each chapter is full of dark corners begging to be investigated. The Shattered Obelisk is a mystery that will tickle the back of your mind until the truth is unavoidable. Each location has a history and purpose that you’ll want to learn before… Well, you’ll see. This is my remaster of The Shattered Obelisk. What’s different? 🖋️The story is stronger. It’s more cohesive, and weaves in lore that characters will actually care about because it affects them. Opportunity for meaningful roleplay between combats is dialed up. 👑There’s more player agency and investment, featuring a custom facet where you *govern* the town of Phandalin, adding layers to every choice. 🌍The world will feel more reactive. I try to guarantee this with all my games, but for this campaign it means that you will have more opportunities to affect the world in a substantial way, and your choices will have echoing consequences.

About me
Heyo future players, my name is Dylan. Being a GM combines so many things I love: writing, art, music, voice acting, game design, strategy... I started off with a few friends in my dining room and a started adventure for 4th edition D&D, and have been growing as a GM ever since. I'm constantly studying game mastering techniques, experimenting with new systems, and reading about different kinds of worlds and settings to give myself a wealth of inspiration to draw from. I want your adventure to be unforgettable, and I want it to be ours--something everyone involved contributed a part of themselves to. If you have a passion, I have a world for you to immerse yourself in. Hop in and let's get going already, we've got a world to save. Or destroy. Your choice. I love learning new systems and games. If you find a system you think I'd be interested in, I will probably be happy to run it for you.

Creating your character
🛠️ Tools We will use D&DBeyond’s character creation tool to build our characters during session 0. 1️⃣ Level Characters will begin at level 1. 📚 Classes/Species/Feats Anything available in my campaign on D&DBeyond, or anything you personally own. 🤝 Collaborative Character Creation If you have a character idea, leave the details flexible! When you come to the table, your character will be influenced by the group, and influence the group back in turn. ⏪ Changing Characters Realize you don’t like how your character works? That’s ok, talk to me! We’ll figure something out.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need accounts for Discord and D&DBeyond, and you'll need a microphone and headset for voice communication. I'll use a webcam and I encourage you to as well, but no pressure. Beginner to D&D? Message me if you want help familiarizing yourself with the rules ahead of time, but don't worry, you'll learn as you play. ❓ Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns being prepared for your first game.
What Myrm brings to the table
I’ll make this story your story. Custom maps, dungeons, encounters, puzzles, characters, whatever; I’ll do it if it’s what the game needs. I use voices and music, but my goal is to enhance, not distract. The 5.5e rules are a baseline, but I’ll frequently homebrew depending on what makes the encounter smoother. My goal is to give the game enough structure that you feel the stakes, but flexible enough that we don’t shut down cool ideas. Losses feel fair, victories feel earned.
Homebrew rules
There will be homebrew rules, but we'll talk about them when they come up. The game is a discussion, and we'll make sure decisions feel fair.

Safety
How Myrm creates a safe table
🗓️ Before Session 0, we'll discuss Lines and Veils and brainstorm character ideas. 🔨 During Session 0, we’ll review the Lines and Veils, and collaboratively create our characters so everyone knows what to expect. 🎲 During play we'll use the X card when needed as a catch-all, but players are free to step away from the table if they need, and we'll try to take regular breaks to keep energy up.
