About the adventure
The druidic Dusk Circle of Westwood have protected their sacred glades for centuries, making deals with the local logging town of Kheldell to replant more trees than they cut down. It is common for animals in the Wilds to choose a companion among the druids. You are one such animal, magically bound to your druid companion, but they have been missing for days now. You heard them speak of disturbances at the edge of the forest before they left. Surely it can't be that long of a journey, right? The Fires of Kheldell is a newbie-friendly D&D 5E one-shot where players pick one of 5 pre-generated animal companions and assign themselves to a druid. Mechanics are intended to be simple, where roleplaying and clever solutions are more important than understanding all the rules. Animal companion sheets are pre-generated and simpler than a standard player character sheet, making it easy to pick up and learn as you go! Already familiar with the system? Great! TFOS is a classically organized one-shot from a new perspective! By working as an animal companion with limited spellcasting and abilities, you'll have to rely on teamwork to get through this in one piece.

About me
Hello! My name is Jill and I am a Game Master, cosplayer, actual play performer, and voice actor! I've been running games for 4 years now and wouldn't want to be doing anything else. I've had a passion for telling stories and creating fantastical worlds my whole life, which naturally has extended to my love of TTRPGs. You can see examples of my work as an actual play cast member listed at ghostiejk.carrd.co !! The stories I like to tell have a focus on narrative elements rather than mechanics. If you love theater-of-the-mind, then I'm your gal! I tend to like a balance of rule-of-cool and rules lawyering, but the main focus should always be the story: if the mechanics get in the way or bog it down, I'm overruling it! I take safety very seriously at my tables. I will ask each participant to fill out some information anonymously ahead of time so we know which topics to avoid or tread carefully around. I *love* intense stories as much as the next person, so we need to know the boundaries we can play within!

Creating your character
Characters are pre-generated level 10 animal companions. Players will have a choice of which animal they play as, and which druid they will be connected to.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have access to a computer, a microphone, and a free Roll20 account. The microphone does not need to be high-quality, so long as we can all understand you! No need to prepare characters, download anything, or even read the rulebook. If players want a head start on learning how to play, I recommend watching an actual play to see the system at work, or a quick tutorial video for how to roll.
What Jill brings to the table
For this one-shot I will provide: Roll20 access for the game, character sheets, and animated backgrounds. I also provide the option between battle maps and theater-of-the-mind play. Rules are meant to serve the story and not the other way around in my eyes. While I tend to stick to RaW (rules as written), I am a very forgiving and enabling DM. We can play with some Rule of Cool as a treat, as long as it makes sense.

Safety
How Jill creates a safe table
I have a link to an anonymous Google Form safety document that everyone can fill out individually. I also like to have a session 0, even if it's a quick conversation just before the one-shot, just as a check-in ahead of time for safety and what to expect in the game. In terms of aftercare, I stay and chat with players for up to 30 minutes if needed and anyone is welcome to leave early if needed. X, N, and O cards can be digital and privately messaged on Roll20 through its whisper feature. In regards to the content warnings, the game would be rated PG if animated into a film, and would be suitable for children and teens alike.
