About the adventure
Hidden among the ancient peaks of the Lordfell Mountains, Draggonar Academy has trained generations of heroes, explorers, spellcasters, and legends. Here, students don’t just learn magic, combat, and survival — they learn how to become the kind of people history remembers. But legends have a way of hiding their secrets. With the passing of the academy’s last living founder, something has changed. High-performing students have started to go missing, and beneath the prestigious reputation of Draggonar Academy, rumors spread like rot through an old foundation. Is the academy cursed? Or is a rival institution trying to bring it down? Before the authorities conclude their own investigation and shut the academy’s doors forever, you and your fellow students have one chance to uncover the truth. Explore forgotten halls, uncover buried secrets, and discover what really lurks between Draggonar’s walls. This story is very much so designed for people who enjoy Magic/Fantasy Academy settings with classic High School/College dilemmas and story beats (Prepare for drama!, and much of the story and the academy itself is based on my own experiences at a boarding school in New England (minus the wizardry). The vibe is focused on academia and institutionalizes the various DND classes as academic paths with associated courses, majors, and minors, with subclasses as field specialities. If you liked the Wednesday show, or grew up on books like The School for Good and Evil, you'll love Draggonar Academy!

About me
Hello! My name is Kaz! I use both He/Him and She/Her pronouns! I've been playing D&D since 2017 in the sixth grade! Ever since, I've been a Forever DM, running campaigns for friends and as a part of multiple D&D clubs through highschool and college! I love storytelling and I'm a theatre nerd, so playing D&D is a natural experience for me. I have most of my experience in D&D 5e, but I've dabbled in other formats like Call of Cthulu! Additionally, I'm currently on the Exec Board of my college's TTRPG Club. Off the table, I work in an engineering and design lab at my college, and I love to write, listen to dad rock, and paint miniatures! I'm also learning how to cook better, and I will never turn down an opportunity to act on stage, should one present itself. Additionally, I'm a HUGE nerd about medieval history, and I have a full set of half-plate knight's armor, which I (of course) use for Renaissance Faires. Most of the stories I've written are set in a high fantasy/grimdark world, but I've been expanding as of late into more light hearted adventures. I draw inspiration from the media I engage with, which is mostly video games like Destiny 2 and Warhammer, but I'm always eager to pick up a new book for inspiration.

Creating your character
Character creation can happen in two ways! If this is your first game or you're not as experienced with character creation, you are more than welcome to reach out to me, and we can set aside a time before the session zero to get something down on paper! Characters don't actually need to be done until session #1, but I do appreciate it when I at least have your character concept (Their personality, their shtick, etc etc) before then. Or, if you know what you're doing in that field, you're more than welcome to prep something on your own, just as long as I see it before the session #1 and give it the stamp of approval! Characters will start at Level 3, and as far as homebrew/UA goes, just send it to me first, and I'll more than likely give you the go ahead, or tweak some stats around if I think it's too overpowered. I would also prefer you use Roll20 to make the character, but as long as you have some way to show me your sheet, I'm totally okay with whatever you use. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! :)
This table expects players to treat eachother, the GM, and the story with respect and light hearted fun!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
For this campaign, we'll be using Discord and Roll 20! Once you've applied to be in the campaign, feel free to join the discord and the roll20 at the links below, and stay tuned for further scheduling via the Discord and StartPlayingGames!
What Kaz brings to the table
I like to think of myself as a narrator when it comes to GM'ing, as I try to immerse my players deeply in the world, and rather than make it seem like I'm some omnipotent god the players have to bargain with, I simply describe the world and the effects of the players actions! Outside of that, I have a fully set up Discord Server and Roll20 Campaign, complete with maps and tokens from 2-Minute Tabletop and the official artbooks!
Homebrew rules
Here's a few homebrew rules I have! Critical Hits do Double Damage (Ex: 2d6+3 becomes 4d6+6)| Critical Fails may incur a "Misfortune" (Your sword becomes stuck in the floor, or your hands catch on fire, etc) Potions are a bonus action! Outside of that, if you have your own homebrew rules you're accustomed to playing with, and both I and the rest of the party like them, I'm happy to include them!

Safety
How Kaz creates a safe table
My priority is that my players enjoy their time in my campaigns, and in order to do that, they have to feel like it's a safe space. To ensure that, I have a confidential survey I send out to my players during session 0 that lets me get to know them a bit better, but also includes a space for them to tell me anything I should know, and if there's any topics/scenarios/etc that they would be uncomfortable with, so that I can edit/modify my campaign if they would appear. Additionally, I collect the responses to that question, and read them to the rest of the party, leaving the writer anonymous. Additionally, I have an open door policy, and any player is more than welcome to ask for a break in session or a moment to decompress. I also always make sure to check in with my players individually after a particularly stressful or emotional session. Good times are the focus, but that can only come from a foundation of safety and comfort!
