About the adventure
Juniper Flats, Utah is the kind of town people pass through without thinking twice. A diner, a motel, a gas station, a church, a few dusty streets, and miles of desert stretching out in every direction. In 1985, it looks ordinary from the highway, but the kids who live here know better. They have seen lights move wrong over the mesas. They have heard strange voices under the radio static. They have woken up with missing hours, nosebleeds, and no clear memory of how they got home. This Kids on Bikes game is built for players who enjoy small-town mystery, coming-of-age horror, and in this town the grounded sci-fi stories in the style of E.T., The X-Files, Close Encounters, Super 8, Fire in the Sky, and old UFO folklore. The focus is not on laser guns or space battles. It is about kids with bikes, flashlights, bad ideas, and more courage than the adults give them credit for. The danger is bigger than they are, and the truth is buried under local rumors, government secrecy, and the silence of people who know too much. Play will lean heavily into roleplay, investigation, character relationships, and slow-building tension. Expect strange clues, missing people, unreliable adults, odd dreams, desert expeditions, school drama, and moments where ordinary childhood problems crash into something impossible. Combat can happen, but this is not a tactical combat game. New players are welcome. You do not need to know Kids on Bikes before joining. The rules are light, fast, and built around collaborative storytelling. If you like eerie mysteries, 1980s small-town settings, weird science, alien folklore, and kids uncovering secrets that adults tried to bury, Juniper Flats is built for you.

About me
I’ve been immersed in the world of Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPGs since I was 10, growing up with family reunions that would often culminate in epic D&D sessions, the sound of clattering dice mixing with laughter and cheesecake. For years, I enjoyed being a player, but when I wanted to dive back into the game, I found myself without a Dungeon Master. So, I embarked on the journey of becoming one myself, not knowing that it would become a passion I deeply cherish. I have now been a Dungeon Master for around 5-6 years, running three campaigns that have enriched my love for storytelling, character development, and the thrilling twists that bring stories to life. While I may not be Matt Mercer or wield a voice actor’s arsenal of accents, my goal is to create a fun, engaging, and unforgettable experience for every player at my table. I invite you to join me at my virtual table, where adventure awaits and fun is guaranteed. Let’s roll some dice and create a story worth telling!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Players will create characters for Kids on Bikes, playing teens between the ages of 14 and 17. Characters should fit the tone of a 1985 small-town mystery: curious, flawed, brave when it counts, and connected to the town in some way. Character creation will be handled before play begins, with support available in Discord. Once you join the server, you will have access to character creation materials, trope options, and guidance for building your character. Kids on Bikes gives players a strong list of tropes to choose from, such as the popular kid, the loner, the troublemaker, the bookworm, the athlete, and many others. These tropes help shape your stats, strengths, flaws, and your place in the group. The group will build characters using the Kids on Bikes rules provided for this game. You do not need to own any books before joining. I will help new players understand the system, pick a trope, assign stats, and connect their character to Juniper Flats and the other kids. Characters should be made to work with the group. They can argue, have secrets, and come from different cliques, but they should still be playable as part of a team. No evil characters, no shock-value edgelords, and no characters designed to ruin cooperation. This is a story about kids facing something bigger than themselves, so every character should have a reason to care when strange things start happening in town.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1. Have a free Roll20 account Roll20 will be used for character sheets, dice rolling, handouts, and any visual aids needed during play. 2. Join the Discord server Discord will be used for voice chat, table updates, session reminders, and between-session questions. 3. Have a working microphone and a stable internet connection Please test your mic before the first session. Clear audio matters for roleplay and group communication. 4. Webcam recommended, but not required Webcam use can help with roleplay flow, facial reactions, and table energy, but players are not required to be on camera. 5. Come with a loose character idea You do not need a finished character before Session 0/1. A simple idea is enough, such as “the quiet art kid,” “the preacher’s kid,” “the angry latchkey kid,” “the popular kid with secrets,” or “the kid obsessed with horror movies.” 6. Be ready to discuss character relationships Before play starts, we will decide how the kids know each other. They may be friends, siblings, classmates, rivals, neighbors, or kids stuck together because of the mystery.
What Freydis brings to the table
I bring over 10 years of storytelling experience and 2 years of professional Game Mastering experience. My games are roleplay-heavy, character-focused, and cinematic, with an emphasis on mystery, emotional stakes, and meaningful player choices. I support different play styles with maps, tokens, digital handouts, curated playlists, ambient music, written notes, and clear verbal guidance. I am also happy to walk players through rolls or practice mechanics before game time so everyone feels comfortable with the system. This is not a tactical combat-focused game. Expect investigation, roleplay, relationships, danger, and consequences. I use the rules to keep the game grounded, but I also embrace the Rule of Cool when it supports the story, rewards creative thinking, and makes the game more fun.

How Freydis creates a safe table
This table is owned and operated by a woman and is POC and LGBTQ+ friendly. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and comfortable table where all players can explore intense stories without feeling uncomfortable. This game includes horror, fear, bullying, family secrets, small-town prejudice, and realistic emotional themes. Before play, we will discuss comfort levels, boundaries, and any hard limits. That said, players should make sure they are comfortable with the listed themes before joining. We will go over safety expectations during Session 0, including tone, content limits, and table behavior. I use X, N, and O safety tools in Roll20, so players can pause, slow down, or move past a scene when needed. Players can also message me privately at any time if something needs to be adjusted. I also check in when heavier scenes happen and will make space after intense moments if players need a breather. The goal is horror with trust, not horror at the expense of player comfort.
