About the adventure

A heart-pounding blend of high-stakes adventure and shadowy mystery, where larger-than-life heroes chase peril and uncover secrets in a gritty, atmospheric world. Expect daring escapades, dangerous liaisons, and moral gray areas as you navigate a labyrinth of intrigue and excitement, one twist at a time. ---------------- Nobody thought the Last War would end the way it did. An entire nation, rubbed out in a day. The sheer barbarity of it took your breath away. But it's gone now. And all that's left in its place is that cursed hellscape, the Mournland, brimming over with whatever monstrosities survived the apocalypse. Nobody in their right mind would go back there. I guess that's why they picked you. For this campaign, you'll be playing the part of scavengers in the magical apocalyptic wastes of the Mournland. Eberron is an amazing setting, blending all my favorite genres and tropes in one world. Indiana Jones meets Daredevil, in a stunning continent of pulp adventure and noir intrigue. It's all about gray morality and dashing heroes. Adventure is out there!

About me

Hello! Pull up a chair, friend. This world is sorely in need of stories worth telling. A bit of lightness, a bit of courage, a bit of clever wordplay. There's nothing like a roleplaying game to draw out the best in us, and also to let us explore parts of ourselves that rarely see the light. That's why I play. I hope you'll join me! Half of the work I do is active grief counseling for bad GM experiences. The other half of the work I do is helping new players feel safe enough to really play and be imaginative. You are allowed to play, make mistakes, and take up your space at the table! I’m always learning and growing, and I try to read as much as I can about D&D, game design, history, politics, and storytelling. I am a big fan of Dimension20, especially seasons where Aabria Iyengar or Brennan Lee Mulligan are the Dungeon Master. ❗ If you haven't made an account on StartPlaying yet, you can use this link to get $10 off your first game: 👀⏬💸https://startplaying.games/referral/clidyc0uu0000mk0882s9lm9m

Character creation

Creating your character

We are currently at Level 2. I can help you create your own characters on D&D Beyond if you want (between Session 0 and Session 1), or I can provide you with a pre-generated character. Any of the player options in the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, or Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are available, as well as the excellent character options found in Eberron: Rising from the Last War! Races: 🕶 Changelings are clever shapechangers who can disguise themselves as other people. 🧟 Goblinoids—bugbears, goblins, and hobgoblins—ruled Khorvaire long ago, before the madness of the daelkyr undermined them. After serving as mercenaries in the Last War, they now seek a place in the world's new order. 💭 Kalashtar are humanoids bound to spirits from the plane of dreams, imbued with wisdom and telepathic talent. ⚔️ Orcs, along with their half-orc kin, are a fierce people who have fought world-threatening evils for centuries. 🐾 Shifters draw on their distant lycanthropic heritage to manifest bestial traits for short periods of time. 🤖 Warforged are artificial lifeforms built to fight in the Last War. Created as tools of battle, they now seek a place and purpose beyond war. Feel free to roll for your stats, as long as you're using the D&D Beyond dice. Point buy or standard array are great as well. If you get under 70 total, you can reroll. Silvery Barbs is not allowed, folks 😁

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Faces are great for improv! Please familiarize yourself with the rules and with your character abilities before the game. I'm available to talk about the safety tools, the fantasy world we'll be playing in, and about our characters' relationships to each other before we play!

What Isaac brings to the table

No matter your experience level, I set a welcoming, inviting tone at my games. Your questions are good, your baggage from your last game is not too much, your experience matters to me! Pull up a chair, friend. I have a Master Tier D&D Beyond Account, which will be a huge benefit to you as you create a character. I also have a pro Roll20 account. I can provide character art of your characters with some guidance from you. I have an Inkarnate account, and I love creating world maps and battle maps for combat. Many (not all) of my games reflect a certain political perspective. If your idea of a good time is leading a revolt of goblins against their bugbear bosses, or infiltrating the upper echelons of the Lords' Alliance to provide intelligence on their plans to the anti-feudal peasants movement, we might like the same things. Not every game or story arc I run will be explicitly anti-imperial, but I like to put bread crumbs on the path in that direction. I’m a musician and an artist at heart, so I love incorporating graphic design elements, musical soundtracks and ambient noise, beautiful maps, and character art to enhance the experience of the game. I think the biggest thing I bring to the table is a flair for the dramatic. I was a musical theater kid in high school. Character voices. Storytelling. High drama. Heartrending conflict. This is the stuff I like. Very much. I try to keep a good balance of combat and roleplaying (40-50% of game time) with some exploration and puzzles thrown in for flavor (5-10%). Sometimes one session ends up with more of one than the others, and I’m happy to adjust based on feedback.
