About the adventure
The Death Curse has begun to spread. Starting small but expanding rapidly, more and more are afflicted by it, and word has spread beyond the shores of Chult. The Tomb of Annihilation is a classic hexcrawl adventure that brings to mind ancient tales of survival on distant shores. The Death Curse has started to cause all those revived by magic to rot away, making it the bane of adventurers everywhere who have fallen in their explorations. Whether that is you yourself or a dear family member or friend, you know that it must be stopped. This campaign is designed for a party of four to six adventurers, and will take you from level 3 to 11+. The jungles of Chult and the source of that vile curse await! Simply exploring the vast wilderness will be no easy thing, but with your friends at your side and new friends awaiting ahead, perhaps you may yet succeed. Challenge the law of the jungle, and save Chult from a bleak and horrid fate! 🌟 𝑨 𝑯𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒍 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 🌟 ⚔️ 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒕: Pulpy and silly, with dinosaurs, undead, and strange jungle creatures around every corner. ✨ 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈: Better to talk or think your way through a fight whenever you can than to fall victim to it. 🔎 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: Tracking down the origin of a deadly curse and carefully navigating a mysterious jungle. 🦖 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚: Ample room for death on the low end - a meat grinder on the high end. 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒖𝒚-𝒊𝒏: Do you enjoy Indiana Jones, Uncharted, The Mummy, and similar high-octane hijinks? Then Tomb of Annihilation is the hexcrawl adventure for you! This is not a simple adventure, and while roleplay is important, thinking cleverly is just as important. Bad choices could very easily lead to serious trouble for you and your party. If you like a challenge, you'll find it here! 🏳️🌈 📑 I prioritize a safe table for you and your party, and aim to create a fantasy setting that does not rely on bigotry to create fantastic and exciting experiences.

About me
Greetings and warm wishes, adventurers! Whether you are a bold and hearty hero looking for a fantastical adventure or a clever and cunning scoundrel who just wants to do the job, get paid, and go home, you'll find your place at my table. My name is Craig (he/him), and I've been a game master for more than half of my life. I grew up with my dad telling me all sorts of fantastical stories as a kid, and from there, I only delved deeper. I've run games professionally for a decade now, and have told stories for veterans, new players, and everything in between. When it comes to my philosophy on games, I hold three ideals above all else: 💙 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 The tabletop scene is one shared across a variety of lives and experiences. It doesn't belong to any one group, and we must all look after one another and cultivate our community to make it expansive, welcoming, and safe! 🎉 𝐅𝐮𝐧 Laughter is a universal language. Sharing moments of joy, sorrow, exhiliration, anger, and passion together lets us create memories that last lifetimes! Plus, telling dumb jokes is a fantastic way to blow off steam. I want my table to always be a place you can come to in order to have a good time. ✨ 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 Lifelong learning means that the world never grows stale and rote. Following new stories and opening yourself up to new ideas gives you the opportunity to grow, and see the world through someone else's eyes. Yes, it's important to feel comfortable and safe and happy, but sometimes, it's also important to feel a little uncomfortable in order to grow! If you only have the same experiences day after day, then your life will flash right by, and if I can help you avoid that, I'd love to do so. If all of this sounds like it's up your alley, then come on by, grab some dice, and join me for a rollicking and memorable adventure! No matter what your system of choice is, as long as you bring a good attitude and respect for your fellow players, then you'll find a home here. See you at the table!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be discussed in-depth during Session Zero and in the group Discord beforehand. Access to both a DnDBeyond campaign and Roll20 campaign for character creation will be provided when you join the game, and you can feel free to discuss character concepts in the group Discord ahead of time. I strongly suggest that you not completely finalize character creation until after it has been discussed during Session Zero, as after discussing it with the party, you may wish to make some alterations to better fit into the party's identity and goals. 🗡️ Characters will start at 3rd level. 🗡️ 27 Point-Buy for stats, not rolled. 🗡️ Averages for HP instead of rolling. 🗡️ Characters start with one Uncommon magic item of their choice, with a few exempt items. Further prep materials will be provided to you once you're signed up for the campaign, to give you a more in-depth look at just how character-building works. I offer several additional perks for new characters to help you create the character of your dreams!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Voice and video communication will be run through Discord, with Roll20 or DnDBeyond used for character creation, and Roll20 for battlemaps, visual aids, and dice rolling. You are not obligated to use video, but I will mostly be running with my video on. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅: 🗡️ 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒆𝒕, and remain on push-to-talk or otherwise mute yourself between speaking if you expect to have disruptive background noise. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒓. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒏𝑫𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒍20 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆.

How Craig Chapman creates a safe table
𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: Tomb of Annihilation is a game featuring bleak topics around death, with far less recourse to recover from it than you'd normally get in a D&D game. As a result, there is a great deal of trauma - but also a great deal of laughter and silliness! Built into the game is a hefty amount of comedy to balance out the horror and keep you at a good balance. 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚: I run a script-heavy Roll20 game with plenty of visual aids and handouts, and will (usually) post most of these to a group Discord as well. Dynamic lighting, scripts to improve the accessibility and quality of your game, and macros to make every element of the game as simple as possible are all elements that I offer. These elements can be disabled upon request, if there are issues with lag or concerns about usability. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑾𝒆 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚: We will use Roll20 as a virtual table-top (VTT) for gameplay and dice-rolling, and Discord for voice and (optional) video. I will use a camera, but you are not required to do so unless you want to. I use music bots in Discord for audio and ambience, but can also use Syrinscape upon request. I will have Discord open at all times on a separate monitor, so if you want to ask me any questions or have concerns about the gameplay, you can message me either straight through Roll20 or through Discord. I am also available throughout the week (excluding Saturdays) to help troubleshoot any tech issues or character questions, to a reasonable extent. 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒁𝒆𝒓𝒐 & 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚: Prior to our Session Zero, I will make sure everyone has a copy of the consent checklist to fill out, so that I can note during our conversation what matters are off-limits, and give you some anonymity if you want it. Our Session Zero will cover campaign direction and themes, the main elements of the campaign, preferred style of play and difficulty, content warnings and safety concerns, character creation guidelines, party integration, player etiquette, and house rules. If there are any other elements you'd like to discuss, please feel free to bring them up with me ahead of time, and I will discuss with you as to whether or not we should include them in our conversation.
