About the adventure
A spotlight snaps on above you. You blink at the light, your head pulsing with a splitting headache. As the world comes into focus, you realize you are on a stage. An elven woman wearing a pinstriped suit stands behind a colorful podium. She speaks into a tiny microphone. “Get ready for a game changer! Tonight’s guests, abducted from all over Faerun, is an adventuring party of intrepid heroes. Say hi intrepid heroes!” A scrying eye zooms up to your face as if recording a close up. Pin drop silence fills the stage as you and your party members exchange uncertain looks. The woman continues without missing a beat. “Welcome to Game Changer! The only game show where the game changes every show. I am your host, Charmesi. I’m joined today by this lovely adventuring party. Now, you all understand how the game works?” In this moment on stage with a scrying eye in your face, you realize, no, you don’t understand how the game works. Along with this realization, you notice a device attached to your neck that has the unmistakable smell of smokepowder. Charmesi notices you noticing the explosive and smirks. “Right, our adventurers have no idea what game they’re about to play. The only way to learn is by playing, the only way to survive is by learning, and the only way to begin is by beginning, so . . .” Off stage in the shadows, you hear the clank of a rising portcullis and the screech of a monster. “Let’s begin.” -- Join this adventure if you’re looking for: ⚔️ High-stakes combat with 2024 rules 🧩 Innovative puzzles 🧙♀️ Immersive roleplay 😂 An action-comedy adventure

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi friends! My name is Kat, and I am a published author, video game narrative designer, and professional D&D game master. My debut novel, Good People, is forthcoming from Simon & Schuster in 2027. I’ve also worked as a writer for a South Korean video game developer. My game writing credits include Delabs Games’ Rumble Racing Star, Space Frontier, and other titles launched by Delabs Games’ parent company 4:33 Creative Lab. When it comes to D&D, I use my professional writing and game design experience to create immersive, custom stories with unique game loops. In addition to being a game master and professional writer, I’ve taught creative writing at the University of South Florida, and I use my college-level teaching experience to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for any new players at my tables. Creating your character
I have pre-made characters for every class. If you’d like to use one, let me know in our Discord server. If you want to create your own character, here are the guidelines: - Level: 5 - Allowable Player Options: Use official 2024 content only. Homebrew content is not allowed. - Stats: Use Point Buy or Standard Array - Starting Equipment: Use standard starting equipment OR starting gold. Regardless of your choice, you have an additional 100gp to spend on non-magical gear. - Magic Item: Choose 1 uncommon magic item from any official 2024 sourcebook. Permanent items only; no consumables like potions or scrolls.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To play, you will need the following: 1. A microphone 2. Headphones to prevent echoes 3. A laptop or desktop computer 4. A reliable Internet connection 5. A free DnDBeyond account 6. A free Discord account 7. Cameras are optional. (I will have mine on!) To join our game, follow these steps: 1. Join our Discord server. A link will be provided after booking. Tag me in the #👋welcome channel and tell me which game you’re joining. 2. Join the DnD Beyond Campaign. A link will be provided after booking. 3. If you use the Beyond20 browser extension, disable it for the duration of our game. Temporarily disabling Beyond20 ensures that your rolls will appear in the game log on DnD Beyond.
What Kat brings to the table
I will provide sourcebooks and maps on D&D Beyond, immersive music, and narrative-driven combat. I do my best to provide character voices for NPCs. As for rules, we'll be using the Rule of Cool for the most part.
Homebrew rules
Perkins Critical Hits: Roll once, then add the maximum possible damage for the damage die. (E.g. If you rolled a critical hit for your longsword attack, your damage will be 1d8 + 8 + your modifier.) Concentration Checks: If you roll a natural 20 on a concentration check, you enter a state of "Perfect Focus." For the rest of this combat, damage can no longer force you to make concentration saves for that specific spell. Your concentration will only end if the spell’s duration expires, you cast another concentration spell, or you are incapacitated.

How Kat creates a safe table
A link to our Lines and Veils document is available in the #🏁start-here channel on Discord. If you have any lines or veils you'd like to add to your game, DM me. No need to explain anything at all. I will anonymously add them to the list for our game to ensure the whole group is on the same page—no questions asked. We will also use X-Cards. If a scene or description makes you uncomfortable, simply type "X" in the text chat or say "Pause." We will immediately stop, skip the scene, or adjust the narrative—no questions asked and no explanation needed. You may DM me the X if you prefer. I’m very good at changing gears on a dime, and we’ll move on immediately.
