About the adventure

The old trading city of Kelmarine in the country of Katapesh had been mysteriously abandoned many years ago, and now is overrun with savage gnolls. A Merchant Princess, hired by the mysterious overlords of the desert, The Pactmasters, has been hired to cleanse this city and see its coffers overflow with coin brought by civilization and free trade yet again! However in a land as ancient and magical as Katapesh gnolls won’t be the only problems faced by this new city. Otherworldly forces lurk behind every stone in this land. Before long this Merchant Princess, and those who work alongside her, will realize that they have found themselves entangled in a cosmic struggle that could spell the end for not only Kelmarine and Katapesh, but all of Golarion. This campaign is a heavily modified version of Legacy of Fire, the legendary Paizo Adventure path. The Players will start being hired by the Merchant Princess Almah to liberate Kelmarine, but before long (level 5 or so) their fate will be entirely in their hands. This game takes place in a customized version of the country of Katapesh in the world of Golarion. This setting is largely based on The Sultanate of the 9th to 16th centuries (the land spanning from modern-day Turkey/Egypt to North India). My version of Katapesh features all the classics you would expect in an Arabian Nights style adventure. Genies in bottles, Sphinx’s riddles, power hungry viziers, dens of thieves, flying carpets, etc! New players & old are welcome! I have run this Adventure for people who were totally new not just to PF1e, but TTRPG as a whole and they are now avid fans of the hobby.

About me

Since I was a child I've had a passion for adventure and heroic, dramatic lives. When I was a young teen I explored this passion in the dank basements of my close friends where we would have 36 hour TTRPG marathons of dungeon diving and monster slaying. I also pursued living out the epic lives of others on the stage, where I won awards as a competitive actor in the New England One Act Competitions and local Improvisational Acting competitions. After my school years I set out to cut my teeth and gain experience with a life of real world adventure. I've lived in several foreign countries across the globe and become intimately familiar with cultures profoundly different from my own. I've competed in Mixed Martial Arts competitions and worked as a Teacher, Fine Dining Waiter, SCUBA Instructor, Underwater Cave Dive Guide, and more. In the last few years I've returned obsessively to one of my oldest passions, TTRPG; but now I can bring all of my experience from years of being an adventurer and leader into the fold. I bring an easygoing and fun loving attitude that seeks to make others comfortable to manifest the characters they wish to portray into a shared story/simulation with like minded individuals. I bring organizational skills that allow The Table to stay in the action for the duration of a session. I take pride in my ability to craft and run games and sessions that are tailor-fit to a playstyle befitting the Players at The Table, and leave My Tables thoroughly entertained and fulfilled!

Character creation

Creating your character

Session 0 and 1 each will be half price each to effectively provide a "free" session 0. I prefer to collect some money for session 0 otherwise, in my experience, there are a lot of window shoppers and players can become frustrated because they've had multiple session 0s with no game. Characters will start at first level and use 20 point-buy for stats. All 1st party Pathfinder1e content is available (with some small exceptions I will share via google doc you can see in my discord) Characters will be created as a group during Session 0 so that we may all be on the same page as far as setting, backstory, motivation, etc. We will correspond before session 0 so if you want to bounce ideas off of me and have an idea ready for session 0 that is great!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Required: - Join my Discord and send me a message (https://discord.gg/eRgqkfthuC) - A device capable of accessing a website via browser - Microphone with at least intelligible quality Recommended: -Laptop/PC (FoundryVTT doesn't technically support touchscreen/android devices. It also can be somewhat laggy and frustrating to use on very low performance machines. If you only have a low performance or touchscreen device it is still possible to play, but don't expect to be able to fully utilize many of the awesome features of FoundryVTT)

What TheAdventurousGM brings to the table

Most importantly I bring a fun loving attitude and skills to keep the game moving and ensure everyone will get their time in the spotlight and a chance to seek the type of fun they enjoy from a TTRPG. The game will be played on a fully tooled instance of FoundryVTT, with voice communication happening in Discord. You can expect fully functioning scenes with walls, lights, automated bonuses, sounds, elevation, the whole 9 yards! I'll provide an option soundtrack via a Discord Bot, but if you find BGM distracting or prefer your own tunes you are welcome to mute the bot. My games are usually a fairly even mix of tactical combat and non-combat role-playing opportunities. I go fairly light on the puzzles as I find them to be a divisive element of TTRPG play among most groups. However one of my strengths is that I love to identify and lean into whatever kind of game elements my table really enjoys. If we get a table of players that loves to dive into character and explore political intrigue, there will be much more of that! If I feel your eyes glazing over every time you aren't killing stuff, we'll do mostly combat! If the group likes it balances, we'll stay balanced!

Homebrew rules

I prefer to use Elephant in the Room feat taxes, but this is negotiable in session 0. Info on this and a few other small house rules and setting notes can be found here. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BNw6W5nn6aPzTogf0kQD14uMJ1LsoDCjHj0_mmR8gJ4/edit?usp=sharing

Safety

How TheAdventurousGM creates a safe table

Lines & Veils will be briefly discussed at the beginning of the first session and I will type up a quick shared doc while we do so. XNO Cards will be handled with a Foundry module to make things as easy as possible, although if you were to reach out to me another way instead of course I will respect any way you tell me you are uncomfortable with the direction the game is going. Most of the content warnings above can be worked around for this adventure, so if you are interested in playing but one of the content warnings is concerning you definitely reach out and we'll have a discussion!
