About the adventure

A small citadel to the north of the city of Neverwinter, toppled and fell into a deep ravine a century ago courtesy of an eruption and tremors of Mount Hotenow. In late summer, a small adventuring party consisting of heroes you may have heard of, be friendly with, be related to(!) set out to explore the ruins and what treasures or mysteries may remain at the bottom of the rift. The party were experienced adventurers, however, Winter is soon to set in and they have not been heard of. Messengers had been sent out to the small town nearby asking word of them, but no news has come back of them. Families and friends of these missing adventurers, one an established noble, have offered up reward for a search, information and recovery of these missing adventurers. You have banded together to answer the call. If they are found and recovered, you too would become heroes, revered in the city of Neverwinter, tales to be told and re-told in the cities taverns… not to mention rewards and the possibility of treasures to be recovered in the fallen citadel. About me

Following what was a 25 year hiatus, I have firmly found my feet again in TTRPGs. Dungeons & Dragons 5e being my go-to system of choice having DM'd for the majority of the editions lifespan and for many groups. I do voices now and then(!). My primary focus lies in descriptive language, consequential narrative, and making the PCs feel like an important part of the story, as well as part of the world. I've built a fluency with Roll20, my VTT of choice, a pro subscriber, utilising music & effects for atmosphere, APIs to make games more dynamic and swift.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will begin at 1st level. They can be created in either Roll20 or D&D Beyond. Ability scores will be determined using the point buy system. Any official D&D 5e content may be used, though to be made plausable and anything 'unusual' to be discussed. If you are able to join session 0 you can wait until that time to create your character otherwise you should have them ready before the session. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like help or guidance during any of the process.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A reliable internet connection with a clear microphone is 'essential'. A Discord and Roll20 account will be required if not already with those. I tend to sway towards the use of cameras to read 'the room' and reactions of players, but fine if you would rather not. Having a character in mind is fine, any relation or concern for the missing adventurers in the scenario to be considered with a loose outline of race and classes perhaps, but we can nail these down in session 0.

What Marc brings to the table

I will bring all of my prep and enthusiasm, have my Roll20 Pro subscription, atmospheric ambience, all of the stats, NPCs, maps, and initial story ready to go.

How Marc creates a safe table

Lines and Veils document will be available. In session zero its good to gather any players phobias and exactly how uncomfortable they are with those and if anything should come up, i'd know to swerve/replace.
