About the adventure
Beneath a dying, crooked moon, the land of Druskenvald sits half-forgotten by the world and fully claimed by its nightmares. This is a gothic folklore setting where old stories are not just true, they are still happening. Witches bargain in the treeline, saints rot in shallow graves, and the forest remembers every name it has ever taken. This campaign blends horror, mystery, and dark fairy tale adventure. Players will investigate strange occurrences, unravel ancient curses, and face creatures born from superstition and regret. Combat is dangerous, choices matter, and survival often depends on what you are willing to sacrifice rather than what you are able to kill. This game is for players who enjoy atmospheric storytelling, moral tension, and a steady sense of creeping dread. Whether you are new to Dungeons & Dragons or a seasoned adventurer, the focus will be on collaborative roleplay, meaningful decisions, and a world that reacts to your actions in lasting ways.

Meet the Game Master
About me
I, like many others, started my DnD journey during the Pandemic. I immediately fell in love with the game. I jumped in with both feet becoming a DM for a local group within the first 3 months of starting as a player. I have a passion for storytelling and really want to bring my games to others and being able to make money from such a passion is really a dream for me. I want to do my best to provide an amazing experience to everyone, at a fair price, and make the story and adventure and your character's story the forefront of the experience! I am absolutely 100% inclusive and LGBTQ+ friendly.

Creating your character
Character creation will be completed before Session 1. Players are expected to arrive with a finished character sheet ready for review so we can begin play immediately on the first session. I am available to help with character creation at any point before the campaign starts. If you are unsure about rules, options, or building your concept, you can reach out and I will assist you. All characters must be submitted and approved by me before Session 1 All characters begin at Level 1. The campaign will progress from **Level 1 through Level 13+, depending on story outcomes and party direction. Ability scores are determined using one of the following methods (player choice): * Standard Array: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 * Point Buy (standard D&D rules) No rolled ability scores. *D&D Beyond (required for character sheets) *All official Wizards of the Coast 5e content *The Crooked Moon Player Sourcebook Players may use: * All Crooked Moon playable species * All Crooked Moon classes, subclasses, and feats * Any Crooked Moon spells or player options included in the sourcebook * No third-party content outside of The Crooked Moon * No homebrew unless explicitly approved by the DM * Unearthed Arcana is not allowed unless specifically approved in advance Characters should fit the tone of The Crooked Moon: mythic, eerie, folkloric, and grounded in personal consequence. When building your character, consider including: * A strong personal motivation * A mystery, unresolved event, or hidden truth * A bond, rival, or meaningful relationship (real or implied) I will be integrating character backstories into the campaign, so details matter.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before Session 1, players should make sure they’re fully set up across the game’s platforms and ready to jump straight into play. You’ll need access to Discord, which will serve as the main hub for voice chat, scheduling, updates, and between-session communication. Make sure your microphone works properly and that you’re comfortable using it for regular group play. You’ll also be given access to the Foundry VTT game server before the campaign begins. This runs in your browser, so no account is required, but you should ensure you’re using an up-to-date version of Chrome or Firefox for the best experience. Characters are created on D&D Beyond using the allowed content outlined in the character creation rules. Everything must be completed and submitted for DM approval before Session 1. If you need help at any point, I’m available to assist with character creation, concept refinement, or rules questions prior to the start of the campaign. From a technical standpoint, a stable internet connection and a desktop or laptop are strongly recommended, since Foundry is not well-suited for mobile play. It’s also a good idea to test your Discord voice setup and confirm you can access both D&D Beyond and the Foundry link before the first session. A short tech check or setup window may be arranged if needed to make sure everyone is ready. Outside of sessions, Discord will be the primary way I communicate updates or important information, so players should check it regularly and keep notifications on when possible. If you know you’re going to miss a session, letting the DM know ahead of time is appreciated. Finally, your character must be fully completed, reviewed, and approved before Session 1. Only approved characters will be allowed to enter play.
What Jason brings to the table
I provide a game that blends strong narrative focus with grounded, tactical encounters. Expect a living world where choices matter, consequences linger, and the tone can shift between eerie quiet, tense investigation, and sudden, deadly danger. I do character voices (poorly lol) for key NPCs, though I prioritize clarity and pacing over performance theater. Ambient music is used to set tone and atmosphere, especially during exploration and combat scenes. Combat is tactical and meaningful. Positioning, resource management, and creative problem solving are all rewarded. Enemies act with intent rather than randomness, and encounters are designed to feel like part of the story, not just interruptions to it. I lean toward Rules as Written when it supports fairness and consistency, but I will absolutely consider Rule of Cool when it enhances drama, creativity, or memorable moments at the table. If a player has a clever idea that makes sense in the fiction, I want to say yes whenever possible. Above all, I aim for a table where everyone has space to contribute, the stakes feel real, and the story we tell together is memorable, tense, and character driven.

How Jason creates a safe table
Player Safety & Comfort Creating a safe, comfortable space is a top priority. Here’s how we handle it: Session 0 During Session 0, we’ll discuss boundaries, comfort levels, and expectations. We’ll cover any potential triggers, talk about homebrew rules, and explore how your characters fit into the story. Aftercare & Check-Ins After intense sessions, I’ll offer debrief time to talk about any difficult moments or lingering stress. You’re always welcome to message me privately if anything comes up later. General Approach Your comfort comes first. Roleplay and story moments will never push you beyond your stated boundaries. The game is meant to be fun, immersive, and engaging—but always safe.
