About the adventure

The lands of Eberron are home to many incredible wonders, one of which being the elves of Aerenal. Using a variant of necromantic magic, they were able to extend their life, without the perversion of body and soul that happens with traditional necromantic rituals. However, it seems even immortality has its limits... Designed to be accessible for all skill levels, this short campaign will see you and your party brave deadly crypts, engage in high stakes combat with massive set pieces, and ultimately decide the fate of an entire people. Feel free to message me with any questions before signing up, I'll get to them as soon as I'm able.

About me

My name is Greg! I'm 26, and I currently live in Houston, Texas. I have a background in film, and am currently working as a substitute teacher, working on my teaching certificate. I have a love of film, writing, literature, art, games, and socializing, so TTRPGs were a natural fit. I first started playing tabletop games in 2018, and I've been a GM since 2019. I've ran campaigns as long as 2 years, to one shots as short as 2 hours, and everything in between. I love getting to tell stories and helping to create awesome, bombastic moments with my players.

Character creation

Creating your character

All official races and classes are allowed. Homebrew races and classes will be reviewed. Characters will start at level 8 Stats will be decided by rolling 3d6 (you may reroll 1s) for each ability score and adding the relevant race/background modifiers afterwards. there will be a lot of necromancy involved here so characters that can deal with that would be a good idea.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Discord server will be created to run this campaign. World/Battle maps will be streamed over screenshare using Inkarnate. Dice rolls will be done by the players in their own home (no cheating plz) The only thing players will need is an internet connection, physical or digital dice, a physical or digital character sheet, and some sort of visual aid. I prefer using Hero Forge for PCs/NPCs, but whatever is easiest for you is fine by me.

What Greg brings to the table

I am a big fan of visual aids in games. Every combat will have some sort of map, and each map will have several interactive elements, varied elevation, etc. I also make a sort of "idle slideshow" for every campaign, using official art during slower sections to provide some visual examples of the world the PCs inhabit. Most NPCs will have some sort of picture, etc. I am a big fan of music in game, both ambient tracks and bombastic combat music. I use voices, but I only know so many accents, so don't shame me if several characters sound like they're from a similar area. I'll hear out rule of cool suggestions, as long as they're not ridiculous. Just know, the more insane the pitch, the higher the DC, and the greater the consequences >:)

Homebrew rules

Potions are a bonus action Cinematic Advantage: replaces flanking, allows for players to pitch creative and varied moves in an encounter, potentially gaining some sort of bonus as a result. Example: an opponent is standing atop an unsecure structure. A player declares they wish to slam into the structure, knocking the opponent over. DC 14 strength check. On success, the creature falls down and is knocked prone. On a failure, the pc injures their shoulder, and the enemy gets to use a reaction attack on the player. *Some rules may be pitched as optional inclusions during session zero

Safety

How Greg creates a safe table

Session Zero will cover most of the expectations regarding safety. We will use stars and wishes after the session, and they can be public or private depending on the majority group opinion. My dms are always open for any concerns that arise in the game.
