About the adventure
In Icewind Dale, adventure is a dish best served cold. Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is an epic adventure module for Dungeons & Dragons set in the frigid, windswept region of Icewind Dale. The story unfolds in a land trapped in an eternal winter, where the sun no longer rises, and the cold bites deeper than ever before. Players will explore ten unique towns, each with its own secrets and challenges, as they navigate treacherous tundras, eerie glaciers, and ancient ruins. Mysteries abound, with whispers of an enigmatic Frostmaiden who may hold the key to the ceaseless winter. Adventurers must use their wits and bravery to survive encounters with formidable creatures, uncover hidden lore, and make alliances with the diverse and hardy inhabitants of this harsh land. The choices they make will shape the fate of Icewind Dale, bringing hope or despair to a world on the brink of freezing over completely. Packed with rich storytelling, thrilling encounters, and opportunities for deep role-playing, "Rime of the Frostmaiden" offers an unforgettable journey through one of D&D's most iconic settings. Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is a tale of dark terror that revisits the forlorn, flickering candlelights of civilization known as Ten-Towns and sheds light on the many bone-chilling locations that surround these frontier settlements.

About me
I have a decade of storytelling and game mastering experience through Dungeons and Dragons, Vampire the Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, and much more. I have been both a player and a DM since 2014 and I currently DM a few campaigns for my home group and online. I never use AI in any of my games, everything comes directly from my own head. If any of my games intrigue you, if you want your story to be remembered for years to come, and if you have the itch to play and need to scratch it, I welcome you to join me and make memories together!

Creating your character
Character Creation I offer a decent amount of 3rd party supplemental material to play from and some fun house rules to keep the game interesting. If you're wishing to use this material or other homebrew, please run it by me for my approval. Ability Scores Ability scores may be generated in a variety of ways. You may either use the 27-point buy method OR a modified Standard Array (17, 15, 13, 12, 10, 8). Alternatively, you may roll ability scores (roll 4d6, drop the lowest), but cannot reroll or default to the standard array. You may reroll your ability scores if the added sum is less than 70. If the reroll does not meet this requirement, the standard array MUST be used. Races, Classes, & Backgrounds Any race, class, or background from officially published WOTC content is allowed. Certain races, classes, and backgrounds will have unique advantages in Icewind Dale above other characters including (but not limited to): Goliath (Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden) Duergar/Drow/Sverfneblin (Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse) Triton (Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse) Shield Dwarf (Player's Handbook) White/Silver Dragonborn (Fizban's Treasury of Dragons) Miner background (Player Primer) Enlightened Student background (Backgrounds of Faerun) Sage/Sailor/Guild Artisan/Outlander backgrounds (Player's Handbook) Hearth Domain Cleric (Heroes of Icewind Dale) Hunter Ranger (Player's Handbook) Inquisitive Rogue (Xanathar's Guide to Everything) Sky Magic Wizard (Heroes of Icewind Dale) Aberrant Mind Sorcerer (Tasha's Cauldron of Everything) Feats Each character may choose to take a free feat at 1st level but must roll on the Flaws table to do so. Characters may choose to have up to 2 feats as a result of taking flaws. Still, they may only have 2 feats total at the beginning of character creation level 1 (if playing as a V. Human or Custom Lineage character, you would only be eligible for this transaction once). Backstory The importance of your backstory to the campaign is entirely up to you! Whether you want a direct tie-in with an NPC or are a stranger to the land, all I ask is you ask yourself why your character would be in the Ten Towns. To help enrich your backstory ideas, we will be using a special Character Chronicle found in the Icewind Dale Player Primer to help develop where your character calls home, their mysterious secrets, any potential allies or rivals, and much more enriching and immersive details! Most backgrounds found in the Player's Handbook have prewritten adventure hooks that tie your character into the campaign, but those are optional if you have another vision for your character.

What Blake brings to the table
📚I have all source material on DNDBeyond purchased, as well as additional 3rd party sources to help you develop the character you want to play. 🗣️I provide a wide range of character voices and personalities to make NPCs come to life. I prioritize roleplay in my games, and put the narrative above all. 🎆Along with the battlemaps provided from the book, I also bring dynamic battlemaps to enrich and enhance your experience. From eerie dim glows to tiny moving parts that keep the flow of combat interesting. 🎶I provide custom music playlists for my sessions to add to the atmosphere of play. 📝I balance between rules as written and rule of cool, allowing flexibility in the moment should the stakes be high enough.
Homebrew rules
I try not to oversaturate the game with House Rules, but I found that some House Rules make the game a tad more fluid and dynamic. 1. Reactions: You may use your reaction to block an attack of opportunity from an opponent (remember: you only get one reaction per round of combat) 2. Piety: We will be using the Piety System for those who want to worship one of the many gods of Faerun. The Piety System has been introduced in the Mythic Odyssey of Theros sourcebook, and it helps offer bonuses to those who wish for their faith to be rewarded. Details on how to earn piety for your god can be found here. 3. Wild Magic Surges: If a character is capable of triggering a Wild Magic Surge, each time the surge is not triggered the DC threshold increases by 1. 4. Destiny Dice 5. Variant Encumbrance 6. Grievous and Permanent Wounds from Grim Hollow

How Blake creates a safe table
I will be using Monte Cook's RPG Consent Checklist to establish Lines and Veils for the game. The content warnings listed are themes that CAN be present in the game, but are subject to become a line/veil at any time. At the end of the game session, we will debrief for 5-10 minutes on events that happened in the game so we can decompress, highlight the good aspects of the session, and work through any potential bleed outside of the game.
