About the adventure
The game will take place in the lands of Barvoia, a secluded plane of existence within the Shadowfell. The domain of Count Strahd von Zarovich. The tone is dark, grim, high fantasy that will have varied themes from dark comedy to harrowing experiences and revelations. Though, with all DnD, there will be much room for fun and silly moments, and plenty of room to breath if things become overwhelming. The game is intended to be a direct experience of the intended RAW Curse of Strahd module, including all intended NPCs, locations, enemies, flavour text, and experiences from the module. There are some minor changes that occur to accommodate the use of Talespire, but the intended game is for those wanting a RAW experience of the beloved Curse of Strahd module. This campaign is intended to run the full length of the module, or until the group determine their quests complete...or they become unable to continue. (Strahd is unforgiving after all). This campaign is suitable for new player (most definitely welcome), and experienced veterans. Don't be afraid to jump into Barovia and see what dangers lurk there, and what hooks await you. Players will start at level 1 and finish at level 10. Any character class, sub-class, species/race, and other characteristics is welcome with some discretion for very outlandish homebrew, though this is not off the table and would just need some discussion.

About me
I have played Dungeons and Dragons, and the Cypher system for over 10 years. I have even created my own system called the IC system, though I reserve this for close groups I know well and personally. I have played with a range of groups from 2 to 8 players in multiple long form campaigns and one shots in settings that range from classic high fantasy to sci-fi, and other assorted genres. The sessions I run have been both in person and online using Talespire, which I have the pleasure of knowing the creator of as a personal friend. I have experience running games for people of all experiences and ages. I am also a tutor for young people that have a range of learning and behavioral difficulties that I have used DnD to help engage with all manner of subjects and socialization. My games can be accessible for children or those that prefer more relaxed themes. I have also run games for adults with a more intense themes, as long as all involved are briefed and aware of the potential themes. I currently run one professional game and one private game, each between 3 to 5 hour sessions.

Creating your character
Players should use the WOTC DnD 5e rules for making their character. (I am happy to run a free session 0 to build and prep characters) Characters should begin at level 1 and may use the standard array for their ability scores. All classes, sub-classes, species/races, and other characteristics are allowed. If something outlandishly homebrew is desired then this will just require some discussion to confirm its efficacy in the campaign. A full backstory is not required but some details of who the character was and now is, why they are an adventurer and what their goals and flaws are is highly recommended. For any issues or questions I am most definitely available for discussions.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To prep players should make sure their character is ready for session 1 (Session 0 is available for free). Players will need a discord account to play and will need to join a server so they can join the voice channel and communicate. (Microphones are a must but cameras are optional) It is recommended that players download the free version of Talespire on Steam and a seat will be available for them to use for free when playing. If this is not possible then Talespire can be streamed to the discord channel for players to view the board during play.
What Daniel Spinks brings to the table
As a DM I use character voices (and encourage players to do the same) when role playing during sessions. (Though this is not mandatory). I use ambient music during the game, which I do my best to keep dynamic as the session unfolds. I am mostly a RAW DM, but I always put fun at the top of my priorities when running a session. My games tend to fall on the open world sandbox style where the players drive the narrative. Each session is tailored to the actions and experiences of the players and their characters.
Homebrew rules
My games mostly run as RAW, although I often leave it to the group to determine if there are any rules they find aren't fun, such as tracking weight or ammo, death being the end, and so on. If there are rules players don't enjoy I am happy to accommodate and change my style to make the campaign fun for all playing.

How Daniel Spinks creates a safe table
I always run a session 0, not just for character creation but also to go over rules players don't enjoy, subjects and play that players don't want to experience, and expected behaviour during sessions. Between games I have an open message policy to contact me with any concerns or issues that may arise so players can feel free to contact me anytime they feel they need or want to about anything they wish to discuss.
