About the adventure
The city of Vibouna is, to its residents’ knowledge, the last human settlement in the world. Generations ago, a hive mind known as the Ravenous appeared and began to devour anyone in its path. The survivors of the Ravenous’ rampage fled to the protection of Vibouna and its guardian tree, which erected a barrier to keep the Ravenous out. In time, the survivors rebuilt, and their descendants populate Vibouna to this day. However, not all is well. Vibouna’s barrier has begun to fail; by night, the great tree must rest, and the city is left vulnerable. That is where the Magi come in. Every so often, youths in Vibouna receive a dream, said to be granted to them by the great tree itself. When they awaken, they are blessed with fantastic magical powers uniquely tailored to them. This is your story. You and your team are freshly awakened Magi, young and untested. When you awoke from your dreams, you were guided by the voice of a mysterious fairy named Iris to a sanctum in the roots of the great tree, who begged your aid; something is terribly wrong with the great tree, and she was created to get to the bottom of it. During the campaign, you will seek to heal the great tree by undermining the city’s corrupt nobility by day and battling Ravenous monsters by night. You will fight tooth and nail against a cult who seeks to commune with the Ravenous, and discover the origins of the Magi. The fate of Vibouna rests in your hands.

About me
Howdy doodle! My name is Jolene. I'm a 22 year old college English major, writer, and an avid GM! I've been playing TTRPGs for over ten years now, when a very excited twelve year old me started attending DND sessions at my local game store. Since then, my passion for the hobby has only grown as I've experienced all sorts of different systems with my friends over the years. Some personal favorites are Fabula Ultima, Lancer, and Girl By Moonlight. In terms of other interesting stuff about me, I have a pet chinchilla named Shadow, I'm a trans lesbian, I have far, far too many plushies, and I hope to be a writer some day. My favorite game series is Xenoblade Chronicles, and a lot of my games draw inspiration from it and other personal favorites. My favorite character who I've ever played is probably Three, my Shifter Barbarian from a Dungeons of Drakenhiem campaign I played years ago. They were a magical experiment fighting to free their family from the mad scientist who created them, and they also allowed me to explore gender in a really important way at a really crucial time in my life. I'll always remember them and their journey fondly for that. Other than that, I don't really know what else to say about myself, other than that I hope to meet you in one of my games! ^-^

Creating your character
- When creating your character, give them a job/responsibility/obligation within the city of Vibouna, something that they will be invested in separate from their magical abilities as Magi. Keep in mind the tension between these two competing obligations. If you need any ideas or lore information, please DM me! - We will be using the Brink of the Abyss series base. - We'll do character creation over DMs, in the Discord category, or in Session Zero! If you are a newer player, no problem! I will guide you through the step by step creation. - Character sheets will be kept on the Roll20.

How Jolene creates a safe table
- Once you've joined the Moonfrog Games Discord server, you will be provided with the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist, which you will fill out to help me figure out how best to keep sessions comfortable. - The letters X, N, and O will be used for their respective cards in chat messages. If you are uncomfortable putting this in the general chat, please DM me the card, and I will respond to it as quickly as possible. - Bio breaks will be scheduled about half way through the session, so about an hour and a half in, though will be open to being requested to be earlier if needed. - Stars and Wishes will be performed at the end of session to help guide the campaign to where the players want to go.
