About the adventure

In Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, the sun no longer rises. Auril’s endless winter has buried the far north in darkness, scarcity, and fear. Across Ten-Towns, food is running low, trust is fragile, and every journey into the snow may be your last. What begins as a desperate fight to survive soon opens into a larger mystery of buried secrets, dangerous alliances, and ancient horrors stirring beneath the ice. This campaign is for players who enjoy atmosphere, exploration, roleplay, and meaningful choices with real consequences. The world will respond to your decisions. Resources matter. Information matters. The people you help, betray, protect, or abandon may shape the fate of Icewind Dale. Expect a grounded, immersive survival-horror campaign where heroism is possible, but never easy. The cold is relentless, the dark is not empty, and survival is only the beginning.

About me

I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for decades, starting with Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition, and I still love the same thing that drew me in from the beginning: the chance to step into a great story with other people and create something unforgettable together. Over the years, I’ve played through multiple editions, different styles of campaigns, and all the chaos and magic that come with long-term gaming. I eventually stepped into the GM role so someone else could finally have a chance to be a player, but once I got behind the screen, I realized I had found something I genuinely loved. Running great games is not just something I do, it is something I care deeply about. As a Game Master, I focus on creating sessions that feel immersive, well-paced, and personal to the people at the table. I want players to feel like their choices matter, their characters belong in the world, and every session moves the story forward in a meaningful way. I believe the best campaigns balance structure with freedom, strong storytelling with player agency, and preparation with room for those unexpected moments that make tabletop gaming special. When you join one of my games, you can expect a table that is welcoming, intentional, and built for memorable play. I take preparation seriously, I respect my players’ time, and I work to make every session feel like it was worth showing up for. Whether you’re here for rich roleplay, hard choices, tense combat, character growth, or simply the thrill of being part of a living story, my goal is to give you a game that feels engaging from the first scene to the last. If you’re looking for a GM who cares about the experience, knows how to keep the story moving, and wants every player to feel like they matter, I’d be glad to welcome you to my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation takes place during a free Session 0, with full guidance for setup, onboarding, and party building. Characters will begin at Level 1 using Point Buy and standard starting equipment. Sheets will be created in D&D Beyond. Official Wizards of the Coast content is allowed, subject to review for tone, setting fit, and campaign balance. Session 0 will cover character creation, party connections, campaign tone and expectations, safety tools, and Foundry/Discord setup. The goal is to build characters who feel like they belong in Icewind Dale and have clear reasons to work together from the start. This campaign works best with grounded characters suited to a harsh survival setting. Final character check-in will happen before Session 1 to make sure everyone fits the setting, tone, and party dynamic.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before Session 0, please complete the following: Create a free Discord account and join the game server using the link provided after signup. Create a free D&D Beyond account as well; a campaign link with shared content will be provided once you join. You will also need a working microphone, a stable internet connection, and a computer or laptop capable of running Foundry in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. A headset is recommended for clearer audio and less background noise. No character creation is required beforehand. That will be handled together during Session 0, along with setup and onboarding. Setup is straightforward, and I’ll help you get everything ready before we begin.

What Bauric brings to the table

I provide a structured, immersive campaign built around strong pacing, consistent rulings, and meaningful player choice. Players can expect prepared Foundry VTT maps, tokens, handouts, ambient music, Discord coordination, D&D Beyond content sharing, session recaps, and clear onboarding support. I use tonal scene-setting and selective character voice work to support atmosphere without turning the game into a performance. My GMing style is roleplay-forward, but not slow or unfocused. Combat is meaningful and efficient, with stakes that fit the tone of the campaign. I generally run close to Rules as Written, while allowing flexibility when it improves flow, immersion, or the table’s overall experience. The goal is a cohesive, atmospheric campaign where the setting feels alive, player choices matter, and each session meaningfully advances the story.

Homebrew rules

I use a small number of quality-of-life adjustments to support pacing, clarity, and immersion without changing the core feel of 5e. Drinking a healing potion yourself is a bonus action and uses the normal roll. Administering a potion to another creature is an action and also uses the normal roll. Death saves are rolled privately to maintain tension and uncertainty in dangerous moments. Flanking is not used. Rules are applied consistently, and any table adjustments are kept minimal, intentional, and easy to follow. The goal is to improve flow and atmosphere, not replace core 5e mechanics.

Safety

How Bauric creates a safe table

Player safety is handled through a clear, structured approach introduced during Session 0 and supported throughout the campaign. During Session 0, we will cover tone, expectations, boundaries, and any content preferences or concerns. A shared Lines and Veils document will be used and can be updated as needed over the course of the campaign. Players will also have access to the X, N, and O system through Discord chat or direct message at any time, including during play. A short midpoint break will be built into each session, and an open door policy is always in effect, meaning anyone may step away, pause, or check out briefly without pressure or explanation. After intense or high-tension scenes, I may do brief check-ins as needed to make sure everyone is still comfortable and the game remains enjoyable. The goal is to create a game that feels tense and immersive in-character, while remaining respectful, communicative, and comfortable out of character.
