About the adventure
The job's already yours. Your crew's assembled. The plan — or what passes for one — is in motion. Unfortunately, no plan survives first contact. Viodrant's Vault is a self-contained heist one-shot for 3–6 players at Level 7, built from the Keys from the Golden Vault anthology and tuned for players who love creative problem solving, team dynamics, and the electric tension of everything going sideways at the worst possible moment. This is a game about choices. The vault has guards, wards, and secrets; but the most dangerous thing in the room might be the deal you're offered halfway through. Expect moral gray areas, shifting loyalties, and the kind of moments where a well-placed lie matters just as much as a well-placed fireball. If you've ever watched a heist film and thought "I would have done it differently," this is your table.

About me
I'm a neurodivergent lifelong Nerd/Punk/Goth, a writer, and a teacher, and I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons and TTRPGs for decades. I love stories, so my games are narrative and character driven. I live for creativity, drama, and comedy at the table with some combats sprinkled in because sometimes the story takes us there, and sometimes it takes us there a lot. Above anything my first priority is player safety. Telling a good story together requires some vulnerability. No one will will dip a single toe into being vulnerable if they don't feel safe. My games are always BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent-friendly and safe, and I am always striving to create a safe and encouraging space for everyone.

Creating your character
✅Characters will start at 7th level. If you are using a subclass from 2014, give yourself an origin feat. ✅Stats: Roll two sets of 4d6. If you don't like either one, you can go with point buy. Roll stats in discord (there's a dedicated channel). 📚 Sources: 2024 D&D rules are the default. Unearthed Arcana and third-party content are allowed, but message me first so I can make sure I'm familiar. ❌ Bannend Classes and Races: Strixhaven and Magic: The Gathering crossover content, Flying races (Aarakocra, Owlin, Fairy, etc.), Twilight Cleric subclass, Oath of Conquest Paladin subclass. 🧙🏽Spells: No restriction on spells, however, anything availible to the players is also available to the NPCs. Silvery Barbs hits both ways 😉😁 🔖 Rules clarification: I use the 2014 emanation rules, not the 2024 revision. If you're not sure what that means, don't worry about it, I'll clarify at the table if it comes up. 💰Starting Gold: 300gp💰 🪄✨🎩 Magic Items: Choose between 3 common magic items OR 1 common magic item and 1 uncommon magic item. ⭐⭐⭐You'll have access to my shared D&D Beyond content, which includes Griffon's Saddlebag Volumes 1 & 2 in addition to all officially published items and some third party content. I strongly encourage you to browse the Saddlebag items before defaulting to the usual suspects. There are a lot of common items in there that are genuinely fun and lend themselves to creative roleplay and problem solving during a heist. ⭐⭐⭐ ❌ Banned magic items: Broom of Flying, Any item that raises an ability score (Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Belt of Giant Strength, Headband of Intellect, etc.). ✅Backstory: Keep it light or go all in. I love to weave in backstories, even in a one-shot. Maybe you're a professional, maybe this is your first job. You will know the other members of your team, so think about how your character interacts with the rest of the team. ✅Characters are generated on DNDbeyond. Fixed HP.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You do need: ✅ Headphones and a microphone. Webcams encouraged. I find it helps with game immersion and getting groups to gel together, but please don't feel pressured. ✅ A Discord account: https://discord.com/ ✅ A Roll20 account: https://roll20.net/ ✅ A D&DBeyond account: https://www.dndbeyond.com/ 😁 That's it! Show up, bring your creativity, and have fun!
What Maeve brings to the table
✅Voices and characters. I try to do voices. Not every NPC gets a full accent, but every NPC gets a distinct presence. The guard at the gate sounds different from the fence who hired you, and both of them sound different from the thing in the vault that shouldn't be talking at all 😉. 🗺️ Maps and atmosphere. I use Roll20 dynamic lighting so the vault reveals itself as you move through it: you see what your character sees, not the whole dungeon laid bare. Expect ambient music and sound design tuned to the scene. 👍 Story over statute. I use Rule of Cool. The rules are the framework, not the ceiling. If your plan is creative, internally consistent, and makes the table lean forward, I will find a way to let you try it. That said, creative doesn't mean consequence-free. The dice still matter, and the world still pushes back. I won't stop you from doing something brilliant and risky. I also won't save you from it. 💥😥⚔️Combat with purpose. This is a heist, not a dungeon crawl. Combat exists in this adventure, but it's not the engine, it's a consequence. Fights happen because something went wrong, or because someone made a choice. When combat does hit, expect it to be fast, dramatic, and meaningful.
