About the adventure

Sickest Witch is a fantastically fun new RPG where you'll play the role of a coven of powerful witches and their companions. Here, you'll learn the secrets of Stained Salt, the magical component witches use to imbue human body parts which allows their magic to properly work. The system is rules-lite and very simple to learn. This allows GMs to build an exciting story and have their players embody their characters to their fullest extent. Teamwork is critical as the the world is filled with depravity, zealotry, and indifference. The witches of Black Branch have decided to fight for the world's small folk, to provide justice to those less fortunate and bring to bear the evils that refuse to understand their unique charge. Sickest Witch does not hold back. It is a system of dark humor and bloody consequences. The game is best suited for mature audiences.

About me

I'm currently the Director of Operations for the Philadelphia Area Gaming Expo. I've been playing TTRPGs since 1985 and have taught dozens of new players how best to engage in this great hobby. I teach high school as a living, so storytelling, teaching, and proficient verbal communication are my strong suites. I'd love to run a game for you. Let's see where our adventures take us.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters at the beginning of the session. To help use time wisely, I will share access to the Player's Guide to allow players to pick a character class before our first session and review the rules, although it's not an expectation. The official Player's Guide has tons of great info. Players are welcome to dive as deep as they'd like. Since this is a learn-to-play, characters will start at Level 1.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We'll be using my personal Discord server for audio/video and Owlbear Rodeo for a VTT. You do not need to have a separate account for Owlbear. I'll simply supply players with the necessary link. As mentioned above, once the group is finalized, I'll share access to the Player's Guide. There you are welcome to read up on the lore and system as you wish. Please note, this is not a requirement.

What Phil Wert brings to the table

Sickest Witch is designed for Rule of Cool. Although there are rules, the system is lite and runs very smooth and quick. I love to create narrative drama and set the mood for immersive gameplay. I'll be using ambient music to help players find their characters. This game is horror-themed with a healthy dose of gore and adult content. Please be aware that this a constituent part of the game system and is intended by design. Regardless, there is always room for subtlety and nuance, meaning players should only experience those things they're signed up for and clearly understand their inclusion in the game.
