About the adventure

A sandbox mystery island adventure! Explore every nook and cranny of the tropical beach where you find yourself and nearly 20 others, all of whom can't remember who they are or how they got here. Every clue could be a way to unlock the secrets of your mind. This is a Lost-inspired, X-Men-adjacent campaign idea I've had for some time. Exploring the island will become integral to unraveling the story of your strange circumstances. There is room for comedy, tragedy, and everything in-between! Not only will you be exploring the setting, but also testing the limits of your mysterious powers. As a relative newbie to the M&M system myself, new players are very welcome, though veterans will have plenty to engage with, also. Who are your fellow amnesiacs? What is going on with this island? What are these strange powers you all seem to have? And is everyone as truthful as they seem? You'll have the chance to find out!

About me

Game Master for 6 years on Roll20, AlchemyRPG, as well as in-person. It is my absolute favorite thing to do in this world. My goal is to create an unforgettable experience that we can carry into our real lives. The characters we make tell the story about who we are. Through collaborative storytelling, we make each other braver, wiser, and, ultimately, kinder. I truly believe that TTRPG can be a powerful tool to help heal wounds. I would like to spread that belief as far and wide as I can. More than anything, I hope you'll allow me to work with you to tell a great story that will be remembered for years to come. 💗

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a free session 0 for character creation, as M&M can be a bit overwhelming. The great thing about this system is that, once you determine your level, then you no longer have to worry about it. That's your character for the duration! Note: X-Men and Lost fans will be at a distinct advantage when sussing out the mystery. 😏

What to expect

Preparing for the session

It would definitely be best to familiarize yourself with the Mutants & Masterminds core rulebook. It places a lot of importance on being able to create any type of superhero you want, within the guidelines set by the GM. I would prefer to run this on AlchemyRPG but would also be open to Roll20 if that makes you more comfortable. Also, if you prefer Discord, I can easily set up a server for us, but both sites have built-in audio capabilities.

What Travis brings to the table

I will create a whole cast of characters for you to interact with, apart from the other players, with their own unique personalities and voices. I will also have lots of ambient/battle music, and plan to use sound effects for your various powers. We will primarily focus on RAW for a foundation, but I am not above allowing something creative to happen if the player can make a case for it. It is an island adventure, after all, and meant to be fun!

Safety

How Travis creates a safe table

Firstly, you'll receive a survey link in order to familiarize yourself and the type of character you intend on playing. In that survey, you'll be given the opportunity to share with me your boundaries and the best way for me to ensure your continued comfort in the ongoing campaign. Once completed, we'll have an extended, free session zero, where rules will be reviewed and characters finalized. If, at any point, you feel unsafe, we can pause the game and have an open or private discussion, whichever you are comfortable with. "Problem players" will have a private counseling session out of game, where we will determine how best to proceed.
