About the adventure

Using Dungeons and Dragons 5e 2014, this will be a adventure to introduce new players to D&D, or to allow players to just get used to the mechanics of characters. Laid back on rules, although there to help understand and guide things. The setting of a small town with a multitude of troubles to be solved. A game to be entertained by and have some fun learning and exploring possibilities with.

About me

I have been DMing for 6 years now. I have done several games and one-shots, with one campaign spanning all 20 levels. I have almost exclusively played Dungeons and Dragons 5e, having dipped my fingers just momentarily to look at other systems. I played during the pandemic, so have done stuff virtually as well as actual tabletop. I enjoy the fun of roleplay more than the fun of combat (although it is close). Enjoy fantasy and higher levels of magic, getting creative with it is part of what I enjoy most.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during session 0 if there is time, or at the first session if not. We will only be working with the Player's Handbook (5e 2014) to help keep it simple. We will start at level 1 with the starting equipment, and pre-made characters will be provided in case it is needed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Have an idea of what you want from the campaign. Maybe a character idea, or trying out a new character class. Make sure you have access to D&D Beyond and Discord in order to play.

What Aktor #1 brings to the table

I will provide pre-made characters in the case of people needing them, or simply wanting something simple so they can just get an idea for how the game is mechanically played. I am generally lax on rules, but do use them as the basis for decision making. I generally will try to use music when able, as well as character voices.

Homebrew rules

Potions are a bonus action, and talking during combat can be done at any time so long as long monologues are not being initiated.

Safety

How Aktor #1 creates a safe table

A Deck of Player Safety will be sent out beforehand, as well as messaged X, N, and O cards. We will have a discussion about the session afterwards as well, in addition to a session 0 where expectations will be outlined, and the Deck of Player Safety can be completed if people had not done so before. The aftercare talk will include Stars and Wishes, as well as a discussion of comfortability. Player's are also more than welcome to take breaks when needed.
