About the adventure
The snaking Ghostlight Express carries you forward, plunging you into a realm of the unknown, stalked by strange and twisted folk, and wind that whispers strange superstition. Creatures of horror, folklore and the uncanny lurk in this new world, beneath the crooked moon. Explore this dark world, unravel mysteries, and prevent the resurgence of dark and malevolent forces. We begin this story at the end. As you board the train to tan underworld, I ask ... How did you die? The Crooked Moon borrows from Folktales, classic Horror from literature and movies, and delivers a horror setting that balances whimsy and dread, somewhere between Halloween Town and a bloodsplattering thriller.

Creating your character
I always spend the second half of Session 0 talking about characters, and assisting any players that need help with character creation, but, if you're looking to get a head start, here's some info: ⭐ Level 1 Characters ⚖️ Point Buy 🌌 5.5e (2024), and no Legacy content 🌙 Core D&D, and Avantris sources can be used. Other things might be okay, but ask first.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need is to add me on Discord at AStarInGemini We'll be using D&D Beyond for character creation, and Roll20 for Maps and Music, so accounts for both of those sites are useful. Everything else can be covered in Session 0
What AStarInGemini brings to the table
📚 A D&D Beyond subscription, granting access to additional character building options for my players 🎧 A DM who was a music student, so is enthusiastic about immersive music and ambiance ✏️ A DM who loves players with backstory and integrating characters into the world & story 💬 A passion for roleplay, Improv, and Storytelling 🤖 An AI-free, artist supporting space. I don't use AI in my games, and I expect the same for my players 🏳️🌈 A table and Discord server that will always be a safe space, with no tolerance for bigots
Homebrew rules
Flanking: I use optional flanking rules, with a +2 to hit while 2 allies are flanking an Enemy Private Death Saves: Players roll their death saves privately to me, and keep the results secret. Nothing like some extra suspense Open to hearing any suggestions in Session 0

Safety
How AStarInGemini creates a safe table
Player safety is very important, so I take it very seriously. You can check below to see the safety tools I use, but here's an explanation of how I use them Breaks: All of my sessions will have at least one planned break, towards the middle. But if things get too heavy and the group want a break to decompress, we can take one at any time Lines and Veils: I ensure that players have a space, both publicly or privately, to talk to me about their lines and veils Open Door: If an individual person needs to take a break, but perhaps doesn't want to interrupt, people are free to pop in and out of the session with a quick "brb" in discord Private Channels: I always have private channels in my discord servers. While these are useful for character creation, they're also very useful if players need to message me during the session with concerns Session 0: I use my session 0 to allow to players to get a feel for the content of the game, and also to meet the other players, so they can get a vibe of the game and group, and decide if it is right for them. It's for this reason the Session 0 is free X, N and O Cards: In the Roll20, players can anonymously drag cards onto the screen to signal if things need to be slowed down, or stopped completely No one is to be judged for needing time to decompress, or using any safety tools. Safety is important, and anyone who disagrees won't be welcome at my table
