Isle of Oroshi

Isle of Oroshi

Oroshi does have a torn, devastated history. Even in recent centuries, humans and yōkai have warred and shed blood.

About the adventure

If you're an experienced player into DND 5e, anime, and profound character design, this campaign is for you! The Isle of Oroshi is: * Low Fantasy (Colorful magic, Arcane visuals, rough-and-tumble, realistic characters, comedy and tragedy bundled together), * High Concept (The antagonist(s) of this story set extraordinarily high stakes, but still manages to leave room for the tone), * Noble Dark (Grand, heroic struggles and difficult choices that have a huge impact in a morally complex world), * and an Asia-inspired Homebrew setting featuring extensive usage of Ryoko's Guide to the Yōkai Realms.

Character creation

Creating your character

When creating a character, choose from the following examples (or direct message me for other options): * Species (Tengu, Ebi'ishi, Fuyoren, Enkoh, Hanamori, Oniborne, Ryokido, Isetsu, Kitsune, Ryokito, Tatsumi) * Class (Any of the 2014 classes, including Ryoko's Tamer and Bender if you're ambitious) * Subclass (Any of the 2014 subclasses, including any from Ryoko's Guide) * Background (You can find most backgrounds at dnd5e.wikidot.com; there are more in Ryoko's guide) * Nation of origin (Enyuan, Gyaltan, Koyoren, Rawapura, Seorak, or Unaffiliated) * Gimmick (Why is your character adventuring?)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You should have: * Discord (I'll send you a server link) * A decent microphone (Can't play if I can't hear) * A decent camera (optional; you may play faceless) * A decent internet connection (duh lol) * Dice

What Josiah brings to the table

I utilize ambient music (Discord bot), VTT (Owlbear Rodeo), excellent character voices, intense and tactical combat, and I often turn to Rule of Cool - it's more fun that way. I'm here to tell a story, not to push up my glasses and say "erm, ackshually."

Homebrew rules

Here's all the homebrew rulesets I utilize and a brief rundown of them (I'll explain more in-server). * The Pointy Hat Travel Events System (Makes travel actually interesting and a part of the story) * Yozaihn's Exhaustion (Makes the Exhausted condition not as punishing) * Fetch Quests (Make gold on the side, instead of derailing the story!) * Altered Crit (Ensures critical hits are always hype) * Conditions (Conditions have been optimized to allow for more fluid combat instead of standstill) * Narrative Injury (You can choose to suffer a drastic narrative injury and be knocked out of combat instead of rolling Death Saving Throws at 0 Hit Points) * Vulnerability nerfed to 1.5x damage instead of 2x damage * Homebrew skill checks (Control, Endurance, Grit, Cheffing, Foraging, Brewing, Harvesting, Lore, Ingara/Intercession) It's a lot to cover, so I'll be sure everyone understands everything before we play.

Safety

How Josiah creates a safe table

In Session 0, I'll go over the full extent of what could happen in our story. I'll ensure that people are comfortable with the themes displayed. Some personal notes: * I'm a strong-headed Roman Catholic. I will stick to my boundaries and I will respect yours. * I will not do romance-related roleplay. If somehow absolutely plot-necessary, "fade to black" applies. * Any safety measures players would like implemented will be implemented.
