About the adventure
Often have you heard that told. Many a man his life hath sold But my outside to behold. Gilded tombs do worms infold. Had you been as wise as bold, Young in limbs, in judgment old, Your answer had not been enscrolled. Fare you well, your suit is cold. - The Merchant of Venice, read from a note in Act 2, Scene 7. A new goddess, the Radiant Queen, has burst on to the scene. She has gathered a large cult in less than a year. Her disciples speak rapturously of her miracles. Pilgrims flock to her half-sunken temple in the swamp. It is your duty to retrieve 2 holy inquisitors (dead or alive) that disappeared at the temple. Is the Radiant Goddess all that she seems?

About me
Check out The Wives Anarchy https://www.twitch.tv/thewivesanarchy to see me run games like Candela Obscura. I'm here for collaborative storytelling and world-building. I aim to create a welcoming space for players to try new things, have fun and share our enthusiasm for RPGs. From hunting vampires to becoming vampires, I'll lead your characters on a fulfilling journey and we'll spin a good yarn together. I love to introduce beginners to ttrpgs and new games. I try a lot of new games myself so I am very familiar with how it feels to learn something new. I hope I'm able to help my players delight in learning games. My background includes education and writing instructions. Helping people play games is a fun way to use that skill set. I've been organizing a TTRPG meetup for 7 years focused on creating a welcoming space for marginalized gamers. I helped guide the group to be open to all genders. Running the group really helps me to see how to create a supportive environment for marginalized people and how that environment supports the larger community. The biggest game I ever ran was a 20 person West Marches campaign. That game honed my communication and organization skills and certainly helped me to negotiate tricky situations between players. Making people feel welcome and comfortable in this amazing TTRPG space is my primary goal.

Creating your character
Pregenerated characters of level 5 will be available for this one shot. There will be time to choose a character in session but the sheets will be available for you to read before the game.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a mic. Camera optional. We'll use pdf character sheets. Most web browsers include a pdf viewer/editor. We'll use Discord for voice/video. You'll need a Discord account. You will have the option of using a dice roller in discord. We'll use Owlbear Rodeo for maps. I will go over the rules at the beginning of the session but I'll provide a rules summary for those that would like to read the rules beforehand.
What al brings to the table
I'll teach you to play Old-Schools Essentials as we go through the adventure. As rules come up in play we'll walk through them. You'll learn everything you need to make your characters shine. Challenge and danger still awaits in the swamp but as players I'll make sure you are prepared.

How al creates a safe table
A Palette document will be linked in Prep Materials. This doc provides space for you to list topics you want to explore, topics you don't want to explore at all and topics you don't want to explore in detail. Each player should answers the questions by directly writing to the document. Don't edit or erase other players answers. The document autosaves.
