About me

I'm a former stage performer, current educator, writer and video game enthusiast. I've been playing TTRPG's since my brother found the blue box in our games cabinet and we wanted to play. During my time as a player I've constantly tried to stretch my skills by playing characters outside of my comfort zone. Playing paladin's or bards when I would rather be quiet in the back as a rouge or ranger. My love of stories and desire to be a better role player lead me to running games. I've been a game master on and off for most of my life. I have two games currently running for groups of my friends that have been running for more than two years. With these games, goal is to tell broader, more rich stories in collaboration with the players.

Character creation

Creating your character

If you want to create a character, use Demiplane and we will be able to import them directly into Roll20. If you're not sure what you want to play, there are some pre-made characters ready to use, or we can make one during session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

If you don't already, create accounts for Roll20, Demiplane and Discord. We'll be voice chatting in Discord and the game is hosted on Roll20.

What Samuel brings to the table

We're building a story, an experience, together. The NPC's you meet will be many and varied, and I try to give them personality along with a voice in the campaign. I try to give everything more texture and depth. Whether that's some ambient sounds, more detailed information, or even the culture or history of the people around you. Combat, when unavoidable, is tough, with enemies trying their best to fulfil their goals at the expense of the your characters using all the tricks they have. But not all encounters that start as fights need to end that way, and creativity, insight, and seeking answers is often rewarded. Plus, I love it when players come up with cool ideas we can try.

Safety

How Samuel creates a safe table

I have certain aspects of RP that I am not comfortable with, and it took me a long time to be able to talk to my players about it. So I realize that even if we go over the adventure and discuss it, someone may be uncomfortable discussing their hard lines with a table. Or something might come up during session that someone might not have been prepared for. For this reason, private communications for that are open, and we will have a recap and debrief for every session. Ten to fifteen minutes at the beginning and end of a session where we can go over what happened, discuss issues, and check in with each other. We'll also have our X's, N's and O's programed in Roll20 for you to use. Just grab the card, and throw it onto the table. If you feel the need to keep it private, you can also simply whisper it over chat or discord. You're also free to stop me with it in voice or group chat. Whatever you're most comfortable with.
