About the adventure
Welcome to Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus—a dark comedy adventure where a missing city, infernal deals, and increasingly bad decisions collide. It begins in the grim streets of Baldur’s Gate, a city choking on corruption, cult activity, and political tension. But this is only the start. A holy city—Elturel—has already been dragged into Hell, and for reasons that will quickly become personal, you’re heading straight after it. What begins as investigation spirals into a descent into Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells—a blasted wasteland where demons and devils wage endless war. In Avernus, survival is only part of the equation. You’ll navigate shifting alliances, barter with devils who never lie (but never tell the whole truth), and make choices where every solution comes with a cost. Infernal war machines tear across the landscape, soul coins fuel power and temptation, and the line between hero and opportunist gets thinner by the session. The tone leans into dark humor and chaotic energy—but your decisions still matter, and consequences will follow you. This table is best suited for players who enjoy a strong mix of roleplay and combat, aren’t afraid to make bold (and sometimes terrible) choices, and want to be part of a story that reacts to them. If you like immersive storytelling, meaningful character moments, and a game where you can laugh one minute and make a deal with a devil the next—you’ll fit right in.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I’m Michael — a 30+ year Dungeon Master who loves cinematic storytelling, emotional character arcs, detailed ambiance, and just the right amount of chaos. I bring custom lore, deep worldbuilding, atmospheric music, and player-focused storytelling to every session. My goal is simple: create a space where players feel excited, supported, and completely immersed. Come for the story, stay for the chaos.

Creating your character
Characters will begin at Level 1 and should be created before Session 0. I’m available to help refine concepts and ensure your character fits both the setting and the tone of the campaign. Stats are rolled using Avrae: you will roll two full sets of ability scores, rerolling any set with a total below 72. You will then choose one complete set to keep—no mixing arrays or switching to point buy. All official and third-party content available on D&D Beyond is allowed, and I will be sharing content to support character creation. Homebrew options may be used with prior approval. Characters begin with standard starting equipment. While there are no strict restrictions on character concepts, this is a cooperative, party-driven game. Your character should have a reason to work with the group and engage with the story as it unfolds.
What to expect

Please join both ahead of time to ensure everything is working properly before the session begins. What Michael brings to the table
This is not a “read-from-the-book” game. I run a structured, immersive experience where your choices matter and the world reacts accordingly. 🎭 Cinematic storytelling with immersive scene-setting and narration 🎵 Ambient music and sound design to enhance tension, combat, and atmosphere 🧾 Session recaps so you can stay connected to the story between games 🧙 Character integration—your backstory and decisions will shape the narrative 🗺️ Custom tokens and visual handouts to bring the world to life My games are a balanced mix of roleplay and combat (roughly 40/60). Roleplay is encouraged and rewarded, but combat is meaningful, tactical, and often dangerous—especially in Avernus. I run with a Rules as Common Sense approach. The game flows first, and I’ll make rulings that keep things moving while staying fair and consistent. If you like creative solutions, bold ideas, and occasionally bending the rules for a great moment—you’ll feel right at home. You can expect: A table that supports both serious moments and chaotic, dark humor Consequences for decisions—good or bad A DM who is engaged, prepared, and invested in your experience If you’re looking for a game where your character matters, your choices have weight, and the story evolves based on what you do—this is that table.
Homebrew rules
🎲 Digital Dice for Combat: All combat rolls (attacks, saves, checks) must be rolled digitally for visibility and consistency 💥 Critical Hits: Critical hits deal double dice plus modifiers ⚖️ Rules as Common Sense (RoC): I prioritize game flow and fun over strict RAW when needed, while keeping rulings fair and consistent
