About the adventure

Scourge of the Shadow King is an original Dungeons & Dragons campaign for four to six 3rd level characters. Dark. mysterious forces conspire against the good citizens of Ryshtarl. Troubling dreams portend an impending calamity, and undead abominations have been reportedly attacking outlying villages. The pious Ryshtarlians have put their faith in the gods, and in return, by unknowable divine wisdom, champions of good have heard the call. Will you accept this holy quest, though it will mean leaving all you hold dear behind with no assurance you will prevail against the forces of evil who stand defiant in your path? Your quest will take you far away from your home, through neighboring kingdoms, across vast, unforgiving wastes, and even to dark and alien planes of existence. You may uncover truths about many great mysteries of your world; mysteries such as why the goblin tribes are fleeing west from their mountain domain, what has caused the Dread Mire to become the most haunted land on Lymeria, and why no one has seen a dragon in decades? You may visit the halfling capital of Denilush across the Windsong Gulf, the colorful arcane-domed gnome city of Oscion, and the dense metropolis of Xal-Macerdia, the largest city on Lymeria. You may discover powerful artifacts like the Tome of Forgotten Lore, the Sword of Souls, and the Holy Quiver of Vagenholt. Will you accept this divine calling, save Lymeria from a dark fate, and take your place among the venerated ranks of the avatars of the gods?

About me

If you are looking to start an epic story with your quirky character, with a good balance of roleplay and combat encounters, and you appreciate a non-antagonistic relationship between player and DM where your character's autonomy is respected, I am the Dungeon Master for you. I'm very comfortable with the rules of D&D 5e, while also open to house rulings and a general "rule of cool" attitude. My priority when running a campaign is to facilitate a fun experience. I would be honored to run a game for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters in Fantasy Grounds during our free session 0. During session 0, we will discuss and decide whether the group would like to run a 1 to 3 session prologue where everyone will start out as level 0 commoners thrust into a situation they are not prepared for before a time jump where they are now level 3 adventurers OR begin the campaign as level 3 adventurers already.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will meet using Discord . We will do all rolls and combat using Fantasy Grounds Unity. You do not need a license, as my Ultimate license allows for unlimited demo users. You can download the software here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/

What Fortunato The Bard brings to the table

Everything the game needs will be loaded into Fantasy Grounds.

Safety

How Fortunato The Bard creates a safe table

This is a PG rating level game, though some elements might approach PG-13. As this is a game focusing on good vs evil, the antagonists might be scary and intense at times, but no truly horrific actions will likely be displayed in game. During session 0, we can discuss players' line and veils, and as the campaign progresses, I will always be open for feedback and criticism. If something bothers you, please feel free to express that to me, and I will respect your feelings.
