About the adventure

Learning D&D doesn't have to be serious or overwhelming. In this one-hour Learn-to-Play session, you'll jump straight into the fun. We'll cover the absolute basics of how the game works, answer your questions as they come up, and dive into the delightfully chaotic adventure Something's Cooking! This session is designed for brand new players, returning players who want a refresher, or anyone curious about D&D 5.5 but not sure where to start. No rules knowledge or experience necessary. I'll guide you through everything you need to play using simple examples and a friendly, low-pressure approach. We'll use pre-generated characters so you can jump right into the action. You'll learn the core loop of D&D: describe what you want to do, roll dice to see what happens, and work together to overcome whatever weirdness the adventure throws at you. Expect a silly encounter that shows off how the game works without bogging you down in rules. If you've ever wanted to try D&D but felt intimidated, confused, or unsure of where to begin, this session is built for you. Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and let's have some fun with a magical kitchen disaster you won't forget!

What Jester brings to the table

I provide a welcoming, beginner-friendly space where you can learn D&D by doing. I keep the rules clear and concise, pacing smooth, and focus on having fun rather than memorizing mechanics. I guide you through everything you need to know and answer questions as we go. I'll make sure everyone has a moment to shine. You'll get a pregenerated character, a fun scenario modified to teach the basics, and a relaxed vibe where mistakes are safe and just part of learning. I use clear descriptions, light role-play, and straightforward combat so you experience the core of D&D without overwhelm. Just show up ready to play and let me handle the rest. I got you!

Homebrew rules

We're not using homebrew rules in this session but I'll explain what they are.

Safety

How Jester creates a safe table

This is a short Learn-to-Play session, so we won't dive into heavy themes. I keep my tables welcoming, respectful, and beginner-safe. If something feels off, you can say so out-loud or message me privately and I'll adjust to keep things fun, light, and comfortable for everyone. We'll also take a moment to cover Lines & Veils so you can get familiar with one of the most commonly used communication tools at used at modern tables.
