About the adventure

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a low level adventure that is perfect adventure for new players wanting to learn, or for more seasoned TTRPG fans who want a smaller adventure with far lower stakes. There may be no great evil threatening the world in this campaign, but an opportunity to recover a fortune far greater than even the wildest dreams for the average citizen of Waterdeep and a race against factions vying for that same treasure... Will you be in it for the mystery and intrigue? Or are you purely searching for the chance to live a life of luxury?

About me

Hi everyone, I'm Jett. I've been DMing for about 4 years now. I've mostly DMed online but I have a few in person games I've done successfully. I love running games, working with my players to tell great stories and make awesome characters. I have mainly ran games of DnD 5e, while currently running several 5.5e games. I have dipped my toes into pathfinder and other systems and want to explore them more in the future. I run a discord community of over a Thousand fellow GMs that I go to for advice and feedback, and I figured I should try to dip my toes into paid GMing.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players should make their characters on D&D Beyond in a campaign I will invite them to. Players are welcome to use all content officially available on D&D Beyond owned by me or other players, except for Minecraft or Ricky and Morty content. Homebrew is allowed, only if it is asked about. Players can use any official method for determining Ability Scores, be that Standard Array, Point Buy, or Rolling 4d6 and dropping the lowest. All default starter gear as determined by your class and background. A mix of 5e and 5.5e rules are allowed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

For the game we will be communicating via Discord Voice in a server I will invite them to, and we will use D&D Beyond Maps as our VTT. I have some but not all content on Beyond to provide character creation options for the players but Beyond use is not required, but very suggested.

What Jett brings to the table

In the discord server we join I will use a music bot to help set the mood with classic fantasy ambient tracks, as well as combat tracks. I will use a mix of Official and free maps, as well as maps made by myself for the game.

Homebrew rules

Potions can be drank as a bonus action, or as an action to get full benefits. Rolling a Natural 20 in Initiative lets you select where you want to be in initiative for that combat, except for above someone with a higher overall roll than you.

Safety

How Jett creates a safe table

When joining the discord we will discuss Lines and Veils, as well as deciding on certain things like if PvP is allowed or not, and talk more on the themes and setting of the adventure. This will be done over discord voice if we all have the time or over public messages if that is easier at first. If players have more personal topics they want to inform me of but don't want to tell the other players about, they are encouraged to tell me privately.
