About the adventure
Being a hero isn't easy. Yeah, some people with powers fly around smiling at cameras. Some play big league sports. Some get join the police and get to wear a badge, and some just make a killing in finance. Not you. You took a different path. You work a real job. Spend your time, make your dime, and then when you get off, you head to the local superbase and spend your off hours trying to make the world a better place. It's not glamorous. You're underfunded, underfed, and overworked. Some days you just hang around the base waiting for something to happen. Some days you play politics and try to secure your next round of funding from city council. But, some days... some days there's trouble. An anomalous rift in reality, a dinosaur on the loose downtown, a sorcerer taking hostages, or an honest to gosh alien invasion. On those days you're needed. On those days you make a difference. Those days make it all worth it. Don't they? * * * You've got competition. Superior Securities has set up a new corporate branch in town. They're hiring people with powers. People like you. Paid gigs to work security work, courier services, and even private emergency response. They want to open contracts with the city, too. Contracts for the work you do. To privatize public safety. They've got it all. Paid jobs, decent insurance, dental, better donuts, and an ad blitz that is winning over the aldermen even now. Worst of all... they want you. You could have all that, and get paid to do what you volunteer for. They could make it all easy. If you let them. If you let them choose who to save and how. * * * Vigil is a custom Cortex Prime campaign about what it means to be a hero in a small city. It's about saving people, solving crises, volunteering, community, and struggling to not give in to a world designed to make you quit. It's a game where superheroes rely on the training and structure of a rescue operation as much as their powers. Where you can crash out at the base after fighting fires or rescuing people from mutagenic ooze to drink, talk, and try to recuperate before you have to go home, sleep, and work the next day.

About me
I am a compulsive storyteller, and adore telling stories with people. I love the mechanical bits and bobs of games, but my real passion is for the cooperative storytelling. It's the blend of thoughts and ideas all mixed together that makes roleplaying games a unique and treasured medium. I've been GMing for 16 years now, with experience in a wide rage of systems and settings, and always looking forward to expanding my horizons and experiences. Personal favorite games include Unknown Armies (2e), Dread, Swashbucklers of the Seven Skies, and Wild Talents. I can't wait to find out what stories we can tell together!

Creating your character
Characters will be made at session 0 using the Lifepath system from Cortex Prime.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord account, a microphone, and access to the Cortex Prime book. Invites to a Discord will be sent out on joining.
What Elizabeth brings to the table
I'm bringing a custom ruleset for Cortex Prime, based partly on the Hammerhead set up. For the game I intend to use rule of cool and emphasize dramatic choices and meaningful risks, with vivid GMCs and a focus on what uplifts us in times of hardship.
