About the adventure

Centuries ago, six quarreling elven families reconciled. Each family planted a redwood sapling in a circular grove to represent their newfound harmony. Decades later, after the saplings grew tall and mighty, an ancient green dragon dug a lair in the redwoods’ roots, poisoning the grove and surrounding forest. The elves called the dragon Death-at-Sunset, for twilight was always when the dragon descended on her prey. The dragon adopted this name, reveling in the terror it inspired and bellowing it just before rampaging. One hundred years ago, an elf warrior named Ethvarn and her allies slew Death-at-Sunset. Ethvarn died in the assault. The surviving elves pulled back from Redwood Grove, leaving only a few wardens in an outpost called Redwood Watch. Over the past few months, the inhabitants of Redwood Watch, now a village, have noticed the forest’s trees growing sickly. In the past month, five villagers have disappeared in the grove. The first was council member Armin Whisperwind. Four villagers then went searching for him, but none returned. Terrified and confused, the village’s council has called for heroes to investigate.

About me

Heya, you may call me Lathan, and I am a massive fan of Dungeons and Dragons, Storytelling, Video Games, and well... media as a whole! I've played DND since 2018 and have been DM'ing for most of that time. At this point, I know the game inside and out and have DM'd a ton of campaigns for my friends, family, and lots of people I'd met through the DND Discord Server! I like to run a much more relaxed DND game that focuses on the players' characters and their stories while also fitting into a larger plot. I don't take things too seriously, so I don't expect you to as well! It's a significant bit of fun at my table, and I hope we can enjoy that ride together!

Creating your character

Please create a character before the first session! CHARACTER CREATION RULES: Make your character on DND Beyond. 2024 Rules! All Subclasses and Races allowed (Including from the DND Beyond Partners)! Homebrew is allowed, just make sure to send it to me first to review. Level 1! Standard Array/Point Buy Your choice for Equipment. Fixed HP Good or Neutral Characters, but... If you want them to turn evil over time, I will not stop you. It won't end well, though.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord and a DND Beyond Account.

What Lathan brings to the table

First and foremost, I will allow you all to use my entire content library to make characters. Second, I will work with you to create a story arc that will appear at some point in the campaign. Third, I will embrace rule of cool in order to help draft your legend to the best of my ability.

Homebrew rules

1. Flanking - When two players stand in an area where they make a line through an enemy on the grid, they are able to Flank. This gives them advantage on the attack rolls. 2. Critical Success/Fail - Natural 20's are an instant success. Natural 1's are instant fails. No numbers are added to these rolls. 3. Rule of Cool - If you come up with an idea for something that is just really freaking cool, bring it up and you may be rewarded for it. In those cases, it could result in perhaps instant takedowns of enemies. 4. Bonus Action Potions - All Potions can be used as a Bonus Action. To this extent, you can throw a potion at an ally who is downed to heal them, but they would only be able to move, use their bonus action, or use other special actions like Action Surge on their next turn. 5. Help Action For Skills Require Proficiency - Self explanatory. 6. Hidden Death Saves - You will roll Death Saves in private. 7. Villainous Punishments - A Homebrew of my own creation. The more and more you focus on villainous actions, you will start to feel a shift in your morality. The dark powers of this land is truly without understanding, and the further you push yourself into the hole, you may never escape. To get all this flowery language out of the way: The more evil actions your character begins to take, the more you loose control of them, until eventually: Your character has become lost to you. Think of it as Exaustion, but an evil meter. There are 10 stages. Everyone begins at stage 1, but the more evil you do, these are actions like being selfish, committing atrocities, and much more that could be seen as evil will move you up a stage. 8. Magical Healing Spells work on Constructs
