About the adventure
Almost universally appreciated as one of Pathfinder's best pre-written campaigns, Carrion Crown starts players off with investigating why their trusted friend Professor Lorrimor died, and what it has to do with the old, haunted Harrowstone Prison. Soon after they embark on a chase through the lands of Ustalav as they try and prevent a sinister cadre of necromancers from achieving their diabolical ends. During the course of the campaign, players will face all manner of hideous undead - from tormented ghosts, and ravenous zombies, to scheming vampires, and slavering ghouls. They will also have to explore haunted places, investigate conspiracies, and prevent a werewolf civil war.

About me
I've been into RPGs since I was a teen, and have been GMing them shortly after I started playing (for reference, I'm currently 45 years old/young). GMing RPGs is my way of telling the stories that are always buzzing around my head, but having that delightful unpredictable element of player participation. I like to have fun. And I like my players to have fun. Everyone having a good time is important to me. As such I tend to being less strict with rules enforcement if they get in the way of the fun and slow things down too much. Another thing I love to do is ambience. My games always have ambient sounds and sound effects, since I believe they add to the experience. The times we live in now are possibly some of the best for RPGs, since we don't need to have people physically at a table to take part in games. The advent of Virtual TableTops (VTTs), to me, are a God-send. As such I use them all the time, since they also take away the number-crunching that some systems require, leaving both the GM and the players to concentrate on having fun. I have used MapTool, D20Pro and Foundry, with Foundry being my absolute favourite. Pathfinder 1st Edition is definitely my current favourite system and the one I use most often. However, others like Alien RPG, and Vaesen RPG from Free League as well as Star Trek Adventures from Modiphius are up there too. Have fun, stay safe and happy gaming.

Creating your character
Players will need a computer to access Foundry Virtual Tabletop (VTT) and a microphone for voice communication. You can use either Discord or Foundry's chat system for voice and text. You can use Pathbuilder (the free version works fine) and the useful Archives of Nethys (also free). If needed, I can guide you through creating your character in Pathbuilder and Foundry VTT. Foundry also has an import tool that allows you to transfer your character from Pathbuilder into Foundry, which is very handy. Please see the note below about character Backgrounds. Here are some notes on making your character: - Pathfinder Second Edition (Remastered) emphasizes teamwork among player characters for survival. During Session 0 (which is free), all players and I will discuss our characters to ensure we cover all necessary skills and capabilities, creating a well-rounded group that can work together effectively. - To ensure your character fits into the campaign and is motivated to locate Professor Lorrimor's killers, players should choose Backgrounds that connect them to the character of Professor Petros Lorrimor, explaining how it is they knew him. These Backgrounds will be visible in Foundry VTT, so some adjustments may be needed for those using Pathbuilder, but we can arrange that. If you prefer, pre-made characters are also available to skip the character creation process.
Pathfinder Second Edition has a strong emphasis on team-work in order to overcome challenges. So during our free Session 0, we will have a discussion to make sure that the party composition covers as many areas of character expertise as possible whilst also allowing the creative freedom to create the characters you as players want. No evil characters please. Morally grey perhaps. But no evil.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will create your character through either coached sessions with myself or, if you're an experienced player, the importing of your character into Foundry through Pathbuilder. We will also get the whole group together for a Session 0(free) in order to make sure we have a well-rounded party of player characters. Characters will be starting at Level 1 and will be levelling up using the milestone system (where I essentially tell you when your characters will level up at certain key points in the story) The rules for character creation can be viewed on Archives of Nethys on the Web for free. Foundry's character interface is also fairly self-explanatory for how to achieve this. If you wish a PDF copy of either the Player Core or Player Core 2 (or both) I can also supply a copy of these. Pathfinder 2E is a pretty rules-heavy system, but the rules can and will be explained as we go. There is a learning curve, however I am always on hand to answer questions and help coach players on what they need to know. An Internet browser like Chrome (or those built from it) or Firefox is preferable since other browsers may experience some problems with displaying Foundry VTT. A microphone will be required as we will be conducting the sessions either over Discord chat or the chat utility in Foundry VTT.
What Matt Bridger brings to the table
Foundry VTT will be used to view the maps and interact with the Pathfinder rules system by having characters roll skill checks, make attacks, cast spells, etc using the Foundry interface. Links to the server running Foundry will be supplied. We will have the option of either using a Discord server to host the chat (supplied by myself), or we can opt to use the voice chat utility built into Foundry VTT. A link to the Discord server will be supplied where required. As an option that is entirely up the individual player's choice, I also use Syrinscape over a browser to add ambient music and audio effects. Links to this will be supplied when requested. I do attempt to use different voices for different characters where I can. Doing so is fun, and I do enjoy it. My GM style can be described as "light-hearted" where having fun and doing cool, heroic stuff often trumps sticking to the rules as written.
Homebrew rules
We'll be proceeding with Rules as Written (RAW) for the most part, but sufficiently cool and heroic acts we can always make an exception for. Critical Fumbles will be handled by the Critical Fumble Card system that is integrated into Foundry's implementation of Pathfinder 2E, just to make them more interesting and chaotic.

How Matt Bridger creates a safe table
Some content warnings : the game includes elements of horror, violence against animals, murder of children, miscarriages of justice, persecution, evidence of torture, and fire. Should any of these themes or those seen under Content Warnings be uncomfortable for you, please let me know by speaking to me directly via private instant message or typing in chat. X for anything that is a no-go subject, N for anything discomforting, and O for everything that is OK. This safety utility will also be available in Foundry if a player wishes to halt play anonymously that way. During our Session 0 we will have the opportunity to introduce everybody to each other as a group. We shall also go over what kind of behaviour is acceptable during game sessions and what is not, as well as discussing which subjects people are comfortable and not comfortable with turning up during play.
