About the adventure

Eberron is a world of lightning rails, dragonmarked houses, ancient ruins, pulp adventure, noir mystery, political intrigue, war scars, monsters, magic, and dangerous secrets. Before this campaign begins, the players choose what kind of Eberron story they want to play. In Pick Your Eberron, the group votes on the campaign’s starting location, main storyline, and added flavor before Session One. The result is a campaign that feels collaborative from the beginning while still becoming a focused, immersive story once play begins. This campaign is open to both new and experienced players. You do not need to know Eberron lore before joining. I’ll provide easy handouts, Roll20 map pins, and clear options so you can understand the world without being overwhelmed by it. If you already love Eberron, you’ll have room to lean into the setting’s factions, mysteries, politics, and character-driven complications. My goal is to build a campaign where your character’s choices matter with my players! I enjoy weaving player backstories into the world, creating NPCs with strong motives, and adjusting the story based on what the party actually does. Expect roleplay, exploration, meaningful decisions, dangerous conflicts, and a world that reacts to your actions. This is a handcrafted campaign. The characters, storylines, NPC responses, and consequences are created and decided by me based on the players’ choices at the table. Session Zero is a full collaborative setup session where we finalize the campaign vote, build characters, discuss expectations, review safety tools, and establish the party’s place in the story. If you decide within 24 hours after Session Zero that the campaign is not the right fit, I’ll issue a full refund.

About me

Hi, I’m Steve! I run character-driven campaigns for players who want their choices, backstories, and wild ideas to matter. My table is best for players who enjoy collaborative storytelling, meaningful roleplay, dramatic character moments, and a world that responds to what the party does. I especially enjoy helping newer players feel comfortable while giving experienced players room to dig into deeper character arcs, difficult choices, and memorable spotlight moments. I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs since 2006, beginning with World of Darkness before running a long-form Vampire: The Masquerade chronicle of my own. Since then, I’ve spent years building stories through screenplays, short fiction, video game concepts, songs, and tabletop campaigns. I also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing for Media from Full Sail University, which has strongly shaped how I build NPCs, factions, conflicts, and emotional payoffs at the table. As a GM, I focus on patience, immersion, and player investment. I like distinct NPCs, strong character motivations, evolving storylines, and moments where each player gets to feel important. I listen before making rulings, but I also keep the game moving so the table stays focused and fun. If you want a campaign where your character is more than a stat block, your choices have consequences, and the story is built with the players rather than simply performed at them, you’ll probably feel right at home at my table!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be fine-tuned during Session Zero. This will be about the same length of time as other sessions. We will discuss any character or game mechanics questions you have during this. All character will be starting at Level 1 for this adventure. All Race and Class options that are found in the following books are available to use: The Players Handbook, Xanathar’s Guide to Everything, Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, Eberron: Rising from the Last War. There are two ways in which players may choose their starting Ability Scores: Variant Array: 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11. Allocate these numbers among our six ability scores as you see fit before any Racial Bonuses. Roll for Scores: These rolls can either be done during Session 0 or with me on Roll20 at a separate designated time. The player will roll 4d6 and have the option to reroll any 1 or 2 once. After doing so, we will take the sum of the three highest dice. That will be a number you can choose to allocate to any Ability Score you’d like. The Charactermancer in Roll20 is very helpful when it comes to describing what you are choosing for you character as you do. However, if you ever feel unsure, no worries. I am happy to help with any questions or additional setup needed during Session Zero. You will be given the option of starting gold or starting equipment when first creating your character. Make sure to choose starting equipment. Even though you are a Level 1 Adventurer, you are still more skilled and experienced than the average townsfolk. At the beginning of the adventure you will have the opportunity to roll dice for the amount of starting gold based on your class, in addition to the starting equipment.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I will create a channel dedicated to this campaign using Discord. This is where the majority of our communications will take place. Between sessions I am available to text with. During the sessions, this is where we will be using the voice chat features. The game itself will be played on Roll20. Players are not required to have any sort of subscription to their services, or materials purchased. I will provide access to any information needed during the game.

What Steve brings to the table

I provide a character-focused, immersive game where player choices matter and every character has chances to shine. Combat at my table stays exciting, cinematic, and story-driven. I enjoy using NPC voices, quirks, mannerisms, music, and ambience to help the world feel alive. Important NPCs have goals, flaws, and personalities that shape how they interact with the party. Rules-wise, I use Rules as Written as the foundation, with room for Rule of Cool when a creative idea improves the scene without breaking fairness. Optional or variant rules are discussed clearly before play.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew Rules (All are optional) Critical Hits deal max damage before the normal roll. Healing Potions: Characters receive the full amount when using an action and must roll when used as a bonus action. Flanking: When a creature is making a melee attack, and there is an ally on the opposite side of the target, the attacker gets advantage on their attack rolls. If rolling two d20 (for advantage or disadvantage) a roll of the same number (doubles) constitutes as a critical success either way. If you have proficiency with a Tool and have it to use for a corresponding check you are also proficient with, you will get advantage on that roll.

How Steve creates a safe table

I share a Google Doc with all my players that includes a multiple choice questionnaire. This is intended to help better understand any topics or experiences that their characters may encounter that the player would not be comfortable with. I have always maintained an open door policy. I take into account the concerns of my players at all times with professional sincerity. If you are unsure of situations or content that may or may not cause a problem to arise, I do utilize the X, N, and O cards as means to convey this quickly and conveniently.
