About the adventure

Goblin Ambush: A Level 2 Lost Mine One-Shot A simple job. A quiet road. A wagon full of supplies bound for the frontier town of Phandalin. What could go wrong? Hired by the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker and his associate, Sildar Hallwinter, you and your fellow adventurers set out along the Triboar Trail expecting an easy escort mission, but when the road turns silent and signs of violence appear ahead, you quickly realize something is very wrong. Goblins stalk the woods, ready to attack, and clues hint that your benefactors may still be near by. This one-shot adventure pulls from the iconic opening of Lost Mine of Phandelver. Designed for Level 2 characters, it offers a perfect mix of roleplay, exploration, and tactical combat—making it an ideal session for both new and experienced players looking to sharpen their skills. What to Expect: - Fast-paced, tactical combat encounters - Exploration of a goblin-infested wilderness and cave system - Opportunities for clever problem-solving and teamwork - Light roleplay with memorable NPCs (and maybe a goblin who talks a bit too much) - A beginner-friendly environment to learn or reinforce core D&D 5e mechanics Whether you're brand new to Dungeons & Dragons or a seasoned adventurer looking for a classic dungeon crawl, this session is built to be approachable, engaging, and cinematic. Will you survive the attacks, outwit the goblins, and uncover what happened to Gundren and Sildar? Grab your gear—the trail awaits

About me

Hello, everyone! I have run several games spanning about 5 years and ranging from DnD5e/5.5e to homemade TTRPGs with my family, friends, and kids. I am currently running free content to polish my skills and build up my roster of one-shots and games. I have never found a medium quite like TTRPGs and believe it is the ultimate storytelling and gaming experience that's out there. The way it can bring together folks from all walks of life to tell a story unique, interesting, fun and heartbreaking all at once is nothing less than narrative magic. I hope to bring my character central gameplay to those interested in a story focused environment where we can experience the magic DnD has to offer. Options for Family friendly environment available as well.

What Killiyan brings to the table

As a GM, it is my job to ensure that you are enjoying the game as a whole. With the structure of the rules as a guide and the freedom of leaning into Rule of Cool if necessary, I attempt to create engaging and satisfying gameplay. I typically run a more serious game, but laughter and humor have a firm place no matter the stakes of the world. Sometimes you will trip and fall on your face, and it will be hilarious. Key Points: -Roleplay is needed to experience the game to its fullest. Whether you explain your characters actions in third-person, voice a line or two here and there, or come complete with a special voice and character accurate quips, it is all accepted and encouraged. -Combat will feel dangerous and threatening most of the time with later levels having chances of being "EZPZ". Strategy has its place but active combat is quick; 6 seconds of time translated into 1 round of turns. There's no time to ask your party what to do once combat is rolling! -Table conversation vs. Above-table conversation: EVERYTHING you say is assumed to be coming from your character. Emergencies and special circumstances aside, you are expected to be "in the game" and any extra conversation can be had before or after session time. This helps keep things immersed in the world and story special to your character. Questions and New Player Experience are an exemption to this. Simply stating, "Above-table..." before asking a question of rules, adjudications, or mechanical questions is perfectly fine and acceptable. Example: "Above-table, am I able to do XYZ in this situation?" Logistics: We will run our game on Roll20 and DnD Beyond. Discussion will be had in discord on topics such as attendance, character creation, and more. Fixed level One-Shot | Ambient Music | Player Story | Tactical Combat

Homebrew rules

Critical Hits When you score a critical hit, you deal maximum damage for the weapon plus an additional normal roll of weapon damage. Any additional damage types (Sneak Attack, Smite, elemental effects, etc.) are rolled normally but still get the extra dice for said damage roll. Example: Longsword Weapon attack = 1d8 + 4 Critical hit = 8 (max) + 1d8 + 4 A Paladin crits with a longsword and uses Divine Smite 2nd level (normally 3d8 radiant). On the crit, you would roll 8 (max) + 1d8 (weapon) + 4 + 6d8 (smite). Potions of Healing Drinking a potion as a bonus action heals as normal—roll the dice. Drinking a potion as an action gives maximum healing—no roll. Example: Potion of Healing (2d4 + 2): Bonus Action = Roll 2d4 + 2 Action = Heal for 10 HP (max)

How Killiyan creates a safe table

Every session will have allotted times to discuss things in the Stars and Wishes format as well as any outright concerns. This will be before and after the session. If concerns arise mid-session, each player is able to request a break to discuss, reach out through direct messages on discord, or voice concerns in the campaign chat; all without scrutiny. I will do my best to create an enjoyable environment that is both thrilling and irl safe. Feedback is strongly encouraged!
