Creating your character

There will be a few things you want to know for building out your characters. 1️⃣ We will be using DnDBeyond.com to handle Characters. 2️⃣ Characters will start at first level. 3️⃣ You can be any class/species except for species with innate flying speeds. Please no homebrew. 4️⃣Feel free to use Point buy or standard array. 5️⃣Come up with your character backstory. This story campaign is based on a module but I will do what I can to incorporate your backstories into the world. 6️⃣If you would like a heroforge mini for your character piece in Talespire feel free to make one and send me the link to your character. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. We will cover using D&D Beyond, Talespire and work to get your characters acquainted in session 0.

Preparing for the session

There are a few things that you'll need to do to get ready for session 0. I've already paid for everything so no worries about hidden fees! 1️⃣ Get a D&D Beyond account. This is where we will play. https://discord.com/download Outside of that you can start working on your character and are always welcome to DM me with questions about your character, the world and the likes.

What Ethan brings to the table

I've got a variety of things to make this campaign as unforgettable as possible! 1️⃣I will start by setting up a great session 0 for us. We will discuss what we want to see and don't want to see in the campaign. Do you want brutal and unforgiving combats or maybe something more laid back that lets you swim through the hordes like a god? Want roleplay that serious with dark tones or something lighter and funny? We will get it all figured out in session 0 so that we can start crafting a story together that for everyone. 2️⃣I've set up Talespire with dozens of hand crafted maps to allow everyone to have a truly epic D&D experience in 3D. This comes with set pieces, music, and even mood lighting. 3️⃣I've also spared no expense with my audio set up. I'm hopeful that my studio grade mic will help to immerse everyone more into the world.

Homebrew rules

There are a couple homebrew rules that I like to implement. 1️⃣Potions are a bonus action to use. 2️⃣Modified Critical hits. Instead of rolling damage twice you role once then add the maximum for the second dice onto it. Say good bye to week critical hits. 3️⃣Heroic Inspiration has more usage than just giving advantage on a hit. With Heroic inspiration your character can always seem a bit more competent. Realize you should have bought that climbing gear? Use your heroic inspiration and coin to suddenly have it on your person. 4️⃣Depending on session 0 we may also do other things such as a free feat, free expertise, and a free common magic item if you are interested.

How Ethan creates a safe table

We will do a variety of things to make sure everyone feels safe at the table. 1️⃣Session 0 to determine everyone hard no's and soft no's so that we can do our best to avoid any triggering topics. 2️⃣Open Door policy need a break or to walk away? No worries and no judgement. Its important that everyone feels safe and is having a blast. 3️⃣We will take breaks once every hour to hour and a half to ensure that everyone's hydrated, fed and still feeling tip top shape. 4️⃣We will do some post session check ins to ensure that everyone got what they wanted out of the session. I thrive on feedback and keeping the game fun and friendly for everyone is my top priority. 5️⃣Finally we will use XNO cards. When on tale spire or in discord you can use these to help use fade to black or go full steam ahead. Fun, friendly and safe game play is a huge priority of mine. We are making awesome stories together and I'm only having fun if everyone else is having fun too!
